My cat Memphis was 1 1/2 years when I got him at the shelter 2 months ago. Since he was an adult already, he doesn't like a few things that my kitten does. He used to absolutely hate being picked up and would make the most pathetic, defeated sounding meow ever when I did, but now he lets me (and only me) pick him up whenever i want. He also used to bite when overstimulated from petting, but now he just stands up to let me know to stop. He also lets me pet his body rather than just his head, which was a big no-no (garned a bite every time) for at least the first month.
Well, to get him used to human contact, and because I felt like it, I started using him as a pillow. I don't rest all my head's weight on him, just kind of listen to his breathing and heartbeat for a while. I've been noticing that after I go away, he will groom the area that my head touched. Is he trying to wipe away my smell, or is he trying to taste it because he's accepted me and loves me? He doesn't look mad when grooming (his eyes are VERY expressive, I can always tell when he's leering at me) and in researching I have found support for each viewpoint. What do you guys think?
Oh, and I'm not sure if this should be in behavior or care and grooming, so if I got it wrong, feel free to move it.

That's the sure time they will wipe away the dampness on their fur.
