It really is amazing how quickly the number goes down!

It's doubtful that we can do it in twelve days, but with all the "Merry Christmases" and "Happy New Years", plus some people having downtime over the holidays (or being snowed in), maybe we can!

Remotely near what point? You can't individually be near the winning point, it's whoever posts the 3,000,000th post. Sorry, I'm not really understanding the question.

The funny thing is I spend about 2 hours a day browsing TCS threads but only post about 5 times a day now, maybe I should resume posting more often?

I think I've almost made 100 posts over the last 2 days. That's more then I do now in a month! It's fun though. Just need more threads to reply to.
