As some of you know Lynxx has been having a lot of trouble adjusting to the kittens. He has pulled his fur out, he's lost a lot of weight, he barely ate anything from August on until last week when he stopped eating completely. He is repulsed by food. He smells it and dry heaves. He's 9 years old was an only cat for 9 years until these kittens showed up. He is friendly still to my mother, but not so much to me or my father.
We took him to the vet today she told us that he now has Hypatic Lipidosis (idk if i spelled that right) anyway it has to do with liver failure. Also she told us she doesn't believe the kittens caused this. She thinks he has intestinal cancer.
Lynxx is scheduled to have an ultra sound Tuesday to find out for sure. But she said he wouldn't have dropped so much weight even by starving himself, he still wouldn't have dropped that amount of weight. That's why she thinks he has cancer. She thinks he may have had this for awhile, and it just happened to really kick in on him the same time as the new kittens.
I don't know if this is a sign of cancer? but Lynxx always threw up alot over the past couple of years, sometimes at least once a month. We always thought it was something wrong with his food and changed his food. His original vet was never able to explain why he threw up a lot. He thought it was due to allergies.
Also I don't know if this is a sign of cancer? but Lynxx would have food in his dish, and he'd begin knocking things down (which is how he'd tell us he wants more food, he did that as a kitten) so we'd get him new food. He would take a few bites of it and run away. He did that a lot in the middle of the night.
I just left the vet crying, feeling like I'm going to throw up. Lynxx is my best friend. I don't want to lose him, I need him. I have friends and family members that have had cats get cancer before, and none of them ever survived, even the ones who went through treatment still died in the end.
