My Bengal boy drinks a lot. He's a house cats and have a drinking fountain. We recently took him to the vets because he was urinating on top of his litter box. We has his bloods taken, they came back stating a slightly high kidney function but vet wasn't too concerned. Then suggested a urine sample. Urine sample was taken in and the vet was shocked on how much urine there was, we could have filled it 3 times over. He is a big tom and weights about 6 kilos. Urine sample came back ok. But then suggested medication for him to go on for the rest of his life for his kidney function. But when vet initially called post the blood tests this wasn't mentioned???
I'm confused, is the vet trying it on? wanting us to pay for unnecessary things? Our cat is no longer insured!!!
We've put him on a senior + diet. I've read up that he should avoid biscuits? But because he drinks lots should it be a concern. 50% of wet food in moisture! If he was diabetic or have problems with thyroid this should of been picked up in blood test right?
Should we be concerned he's drinking too much?
And should be keep him on 2 small portions of dry food and one portion of wet food a day? Pets at home said he should stick to as much dry food as possible????
