There's a big storm coming, with icy winds! I just finished circling the house, making sure everything that the wind can pick up is put away. We're also expecting snow tonight and tomorrow so we'll see how that works out with the wind!

It's fun to storm watch this time of year - sometimes the waves crash over the 30 ft. breaker wall up over the railing and onto the sidewalk, giving you a chilly salt bath (if you don't know better and stand there, lol!). We get hurricane-force winds every winter here at Juan de Fuca Strait.

The worst Pacific storm I've ever been in had 90km sustained winds and horizontal rain, and walking in it was very difficult, it took all my strength just to stay vertical. And the rain hurt my face like gun pellets, it was painful but amazing!

The sky is the color of lead, and the wind's picking up!

Actually, I was just listening to the news and they were talking about you could get up to 10 cm of snow. Of course, our radio station weather guy was laughing - I wish our winter storms only came with 10 cm!

You guys get the winds, we get the snow.

Big weather here too in Southern California!!.....

Wait for it...

................ RAIN! ALL WEEKEND!! Starting tonight!

I've lived here for 3.5 years now, and yes, it is technically a desert, even on the coast, but really, on the news they talk about this 'rain event' like it's an east coast blizzard or something!
It makes me laugh.

I do get excited for rain though, since we don't get a whole lot. This is the 4th time or so that it's rained this fall though, which is rare. I like it!
