Ok as some of you know from my previous thread that 2 days ago Luna limped on her back paws, and even had to drag herself over to her food dish. I kept her in my room away from Midnight the rest of that day and night. She slept the whole time. But she seemed fine that night even playing around the room no limping. Yesterday she ran around the house and limped once in awhile. She played with Midnight only limping once in awhile. This morning she was limping alot.

Luna's
vet appointment was today, so the vet checked her out. Luna limped in front of the vet, so the vet did see her limping.

The vet said Luna's knee's are popping out of place, and this is a condition that some kittens get when they are still growing. It's because of her growth spurt and this can continue for another few weeks while she grows. Luna's ligaments are growing, causing this. The vet said if it continues there is a surgery that can be done, but she said this was normal, and will stop once Luna's growth spurt stops. She said not to isolate Luna, let her and Midnight play together.

If you pick Luna up sometimes you can feel her knees moving in/out of place. She doesn't cry while limping, or when we pick her up, only if Midnight pounces on her back end. I've never felt that with Lynxx, Midnight or other cats in the past. Did anyone ever hear of this condition? to tell me more about it, or have websites with information about it?

Yes, I've heard of this. The condition is called luxating patella or patellar luxation.

Here's a page on it that mentions some supplements that can help (the same supplements recommended for other types of joint problems):

More info here:

Sites, and vets, differ on whether the cat's activity should be limited a bit after this first occurs. You might want to ask another vet about this, especially if Luna continues to limp quite often.

You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help!

I hope Luna's feeling much better and that she will recover from this, grow out of it, without needing surgery.

She seems to be doing ok with it. When she just wakes up is the worse time, that's when I notice her limp more. After she's been up and moving around she seems to do ok. She still wants to play with Midnight and the laser light I have. I do try to break them up when I think she's had enough, but she'll fight me to get back down and pounce him. So I don't think she's in any pain.

I was just at the vet again today with my other cat. She showed me a diagram of a cat's knee, and she was able to show me what's going on inside of Luna. If that were me I'd be on the floor screaming my brains out!
