Hi guys, you know me for sure. Chickster is currently on the Purina One Sensitive Systems, and used to be on the Purina One SmartBlends Chicken and Rice. I switched her to PO-SS because of her fits, which I assumed were coming from constipation and bowel upset/anus irritation.

I was wondering if there was a better choice for fiber and food together. She really hates the Wellness Core. She will pick around it and refuses to eat it. She also refuses the Friskies Griller's Blend, which yes, I know it's not a good food, but I can see she is very finicky. The only thing she's ever loved is the Hill's C/D dry food. Nothing else really turns on her appetite except that and honey roasted turkey. She does not and will not eat wet. I've tried and tried.

I've got a coupon for free "Finicky cats" food, a 3 bag sample box from Petco. I think this is actually Petco brand if I am remembering correctly (Coupon is at home, I'm at work)

I'd like to balance nutrition with decent fiber so her constipation won't be so bad, the vet commented on her anus being irritated. As it is she doesn't seem to eat much of the Sensitive Systems and I can't imagine being forced to eat some food I can't stand every single day. She should be excited to get some food!

Thanks for any help guys.

I think that finicky cat free sample might be a Royal Canin sample, because we got one too, but I might be mistaken (I didn't go pick it up, because we're using high protein, low carb food here right now for Darko's diet).

Anyway, even though Chickster is having some "poopy" issues, not sure increasing fiber is really the way to go, because that sometimes just bulks up the size of the poop, which makes it even harder to expell.

I don't know what to tell you about finicky eaters...of our 4 cats, 2 hated Wellness Core also, none of them really like canned food, and believe me, I have tried pretty much every variety know to man. The favorite food around here has always been Purina One Sensitive Stomach, and when we used to mix it with Kirkland's adult maintenance, they would pick at it and eat the Purina One first.

Are'nt you following up her pill each morning with a little syringe of water? If so, why not just give her a little bit of Miralax daily in that water? That really should do the trick of helping her. I know I sound like a broken records, but I swear by that stuff! And I really do think it's more of a daily thing than "as needed". I tried to cut back Sven's twice daily dosing to once a day because he sometimes drops tiny poopies when he's sleeping and doesn't even realize it, but then he got plugged up again within just a few days, so I knew I couldn't do that and I would just need to clean up after him, poor guy. (I think you saw that with Boo...you said they reminded you of pasta shells or something

Oats are likely the easiest fiber to help with hairballs , constipation and sometimes loose stools...Look for foods with Oats, oatmeal, oat bran No need for all but one is a good thing ...

I didn't realize I could give miralax every day. I thought it was a twice a day or as needed thing. I will give her a small amount of miralax every day and get her started on that. Thanks guys
She is liking the Nutro Senior I bought her, as she's always liked the "big boys" cat food and not the smaller stuff. So we'll see!
