Blaines dad Ken had been in for a double hernia operation on Wednesday morning and wad released late wed afternoon he seemed fine was in a bit of pain nothing to bad, yesterday he was in a lot of pain but battled through it. Then this morning bout 40 mins ago Blaine text saying ken had been took to hospital. I just got off the phone to him ken had gone to the toilet and on his way back to bed saying he felt a bit dizzy then collapsed, Blaine woke to his mam screaming for him coz she couldn't wake him so after a few times shouting at him to wake up he did come round and they phoned for an ambulance they took his bp it was something over 30 Blaine couldn't remember what it fully was, they don't know if its been lowered by tablets he is on after the op or its internal bleeding do we play the waiting game now

I feel awful for Blaine he couldn't go with his dad coz he had to open up at work and he's in a bit of a state I hate not being there for him

The hospital don't know whats wrong with him so they have sent him home surely blood pressure doesn't drop that low for no reason
post #4 of 37
That seems crazy they'd just send him home because they "dont know what's wrong"!

that it was just some freak occurrence.
What a horrible shock that must have been for them I hope he's ok now

Was it South Shields general he was in Ash?

My bp has dropped like this from dehydration and I too collapsed, but drs just ran tests and then in the end there was nothing wrong, hopefully it's the same for him!

They have left a needle I his ARM he looks gaunt and like death, he doesn't want to see anyone
post #11 of 37
If he's still not feeling well i would get the Doctor out. What's the needle in his arm for?.

I've heard a few bad reports about SS General, but having said that my niece was a nurse on the stroke unit there and she loved her job as well as the hospital, but not every nurse has compassion
post #12 of 37
Wow! That's scary! Praying he's better soon and they find out what's going on.
Oh how frightening! Many for Ken - and for all.

Is the needle for sub-q fluids?
How frightening that must have been. It makes me uneasy that they just sent him home...I guess they gave him fluids to raise his BP? (Not trying to be scary, just would've rathered they kept him for a bit.) Please tell them to make sure he stands very slowly and has assistance with walking. I hope he is feeling better soon.

Well from what Blaine told me earlier I could honestly be sick........ken wad let out 2.5 hours after said op on Wednesday seriously low blood pressure this morning leading to him collapsing and Blaine and mil not being able to bring him round straight away and then releasing him again couple hours after that coz they can find anything wrong I'm so angry further its noisy to be treat at all
post #19 of 37
I just read your thread.

Sending vibes that your FIL gets the right kind of follow-up care and feels better real soon.
oh hon, I just read your thread as well...how is he doing?

I doesn't make sense to let him out of the hospital twice like that, and with a needle in his arm to boot. I could understand if it was a port for further medications, but that sounds like an IV needle that they forgot to take out. That is just not right!

Many prayers going out to him, Blaine, you and everyone. Keep us up to date.

I only just came accross this thread, oh hun I'm so sorry. Hospitals in the UK are rubbish now since the flippin government changed and it seems once you are over a certain age its like pah you're too old for us to care, makes me sick, its like they can't be bothered because the government have made so many cuts to the nhs, anyway I won't get into politics I really hope your fil feels better soon, please keep us updated.xx

It's been a comedy of errors i don't want to put to much at the mo incase they want to take any thing further

But he is feeling much better although still in a lot of pain

Thank you all
I'm so glad he is feeling alot better, so you should take things further, people get away with too much these days. When dh's gran was ill, she had been ill for a lon time and the week before she passed away she went to see a consultant who thoroughlly examined her, the lady was clearly ill and dehydrated amongst other things but he sent her home and she passed away the next week due to gangrene developing, I for one believe that if caught earlier she would have still been here. Definetely do not take this lying down.x
post #24 of 37
Aw it's such a shame all that's gone on, but I'm so glad to hear he's at least feeling better. Continued
