Squishy had an ear ablation last Thursday to remove a mass in his ear canal. He's feeling better, still healing, but being quite photogenic in the process. Of course, he's being as handsome as ever.
It'll be many more weeks before he's healed, but so far so good. He has a gauze "necklace" to prevent him from itching his ear, we got lucky that he doesn't try to bother it too much so doesn't require a cone.

**Be forewarned, I intentionally did not include any graphic photos, however you can see his stitches & the drainage area in some of the pics.**

Lounging

Playing with the turbo track, his first time with it!

Then we went on a trip outside, to keep him happy

I was almost afraid to look but you were right, Squishy looks as handsome as ever.

What is that white stuff on the ground?

Sending healing vibes to your sweet boy...

The dreaded 4 letter word - snow - I deeply regret living in the midwest every winter!

Did they remove the entire canal?
The mass was not removable w/o removing the entire ear canal, apparently. It was quite attached in some spots.

Oh yes, leash was necessary much to his utter disappointment. I wasn't about the let him loose, knowing him he'd bolt! I've chased him around the yard more times than I care to count.

Awww...Squishy always makes me want to find a big old man-cat to hug.

I'm glad he's doing better and that he got to enjoy some of the outdoors (even if it wasn't as much as he would have liked.
Lots of healing for your handsome old man.

Oh, I'm so glad that handsome fellow is doing OK since the operation! I love the pictures of him on the turbo track....I've never seen anything like that track....ours are all of the round kind. I like that one.

I have a silly question, please bear with me. Is he deaf now since the ear canal had to be removed? I don't know anything about ear operations, so pardon me.

It doesn't look all that bad. I'm glad he's healing well. He's such a good boy!

(can't say much for that darn snow though!)

What a brave man! I'm sure he's feeling so much better and it looks like he's doing well. I know that taking him outside probably helped speed his recovery along.

The vet never mentioned it & I never asked, but I would assume he has no hearing in that ear.

We're a few weeks now post-op. He has repeatedly removed sutures before they needed to come out.
So far we're still in the clear & hopefully will remain that way.

I took new pics of him tonight, as he's so handsome & he was full of himself zooming around like a kitten.

The Chairman himself, Squishy Meow!

He's actually LOSING weight! Woo!

Talk to the bad ear, cuz I ain't listening

I am a handsome devil, yes

Chasing the toy

and one last one, a side shot - the darker spots are where his sutures most recently were - and where he still has very few left.
