Is this normal?

I always second guees myself, and lately I've been wondering if I'm feeding my cats enough?

I feed them every day, and always make sure there is fresh food and water put down for them, and their bowls are very rarely completely empty.

I now have only 10 cats as follows: (7 females, all desexed) 1x 6mo, 2x 3yo, 2x 4yo and 1 x 6yo and I have (3 males, all desexed) 1x 6 mo, 1x 9 mo and 1x 5 yo.

They aren't underweight, they're all good weights, and apart from my eldest male J, they're small - average sized cats with F being the smallest stature wise but she's still quite stocky.

I make sure they don't look like they're loosing weight and they were weighed recently and they haven't lost anything, they seem to be stable or gaining.

I feed them on average, on a daily basis 1kg or 2.2lb of an Australian DRY Food brand called Optimun.

It's the only brand that agrees with K's stomach as it's high protein and the only thing better that I've found is Royal Canin but as Royal Canin isn't easily found, Optmiun is affordable and food quality and my cats love it.

I'm used to feeding a large multi cat household and that was a LOT more food than this, so having 10 has thrown me a little and I'm a worry wart - I don't want to be underfeeding them if you know what I mean.

As I said, their bowls are rarely empty, so i'm assuming I'm feeding them enough?? is the ammount unusually low or does it sound about right?

Thanks for any advice

I also have a large household, and I've been there, too. I free feed dry with wet food given 2x/day. I do monitor how much dry food is put out & there are times their dry food bowl is empty. I have one who is fairly skinny, and like you, they're all "average" sized cats, about 9 - 10 lbs. I'd say, so long as they aren't underweight, you're probably feeding a food amount. Given that I also feed wet food I cannot comment on the amount you feed being too much/too little.

The lower the quality of food, the more you have to tend to feed, so that would impact how much they eat also.
