Not at all - mine have all been shelter rescues with stray/drop off pasts, little information was given on them.

I did know the mother of my two childhood cats, but that's as far as that tree went as well.

Some of them, yes. For years the family had intact farm cats, until about 6 years ago. So many are related, but some are also rescues.

Fafeena is mother to Twitch & Cow (littermates). She is "aunt" to Slinky. Slinky is mother to Tabitha, Goat-Head, both Billy Bob & Tony Bob (the Bobs are littermates), & potentially Ophelia Rose. Goat-Head is mother to Dorian Grey. TigerLily was found when she was a bit too young to be weaned, so we don't know who her mother was.

Molly, Margo, Squishy, Gumby, Lola, & Eden all came from the shelter. Nemo wandered up this past summer, got neutered, & never left!

No, I wish I knew her family tree. That would be so interesting!

No, I don't. Miagi & Tiger were rescues, I am not sure about Angel's though.

No, and no, and no, and no, and no. (That covers all five.)
They were all strays taken to the shelter or abandoned there before hours. Two, gray (blue) DLH (Nebelung types) are estimated to be the same age. I like to think that they are brother and sister. But one came into the shelter as a semi-feral kitten at 8 weeks (and she's still semi-feral). The other came in with "his wife" (a black DSH) and their kittens (abandoned in a box by the door and found when the staff came at 6 a.m.) about 2 years and 2 months later. Now they are both about 4.5, estimated to have been born in June of 2006.

She is a caution, he is a lover. She was there almost 3 years when I brought her home. He was there 2 years. I'll never know, but I like to think they are siblings.

I know Russell's mother and grandmother, Cecil's mother, and Lola and Tucker's mother. Russell likely has siblings and cousins somewhere. Cecil's siblings would still be at the farm property, and Lola and Tucker's mom's owners refuse to spay her so she's had a few litters since we got them.

Yes, all are pedigreed kitties. I can actually trace some of their lines way back to year 1905!

Not too much. We just know that, right after the family moved in down the street from us, they had visitors. And those visitors came from down South somewhere and brought two little female kittens with them. Didn't take long before they came over to us and we ended up cat-napping them. Yes, that's exactly what we did...we thought and thought about it, and we suspected that their "people" weren't taking care of them, so we just took them, brought them into the house and they've been here ever since. That's how Whisper and Bootser came to live with us; they are sisters.

Whisper had at least four litters that we know of before we could get her in the house and then spayed. Her last litter was born in a clothes basket in our bedroom with DH watching, while I stayed out in the hallway with Banshee and Hydrox on the other side of the closed bedroom door. That litter gave us BooBoo and Ms. Pepe, along with 3 other little ones: Spike, Taffy, and Gorby. Their brother, Spike, died a month before their first birthday. We found good homes for Taffy and Gorby.

I paid $2.00 for Hydrox one spring day years and years ago. One of the little boys in the neighborhood came over and said that his cat had had kittens and did we want one. I said that the only way I would take a kitten is if it were totally black. He said OK and left. Only to come back with Hydrox! He lived to be 20 years old and, as he got older, he became The Old Coot. He was grumpy and cantankerous and he didn't like the other RugCats. Not one tiny bit!

Banshee came to us when Pita passed away. Pita was one of Whisper's kittens from a previous litter. DH saw an ad in the newspaper for free kittens. We went down and I pulled Banshee away from her mom's nipple. I thought she was too young to leave her mom, but the people just didn't want her. She know how much I needed her and had no problems coming home with us. She lived to be 14 and died from a heart attack brought on by throid issues and feline asthma. My heart broke the day she passed away.

Amber Louise was given to us by a woman in town who had seen her running around. We think she was about four weeks old and nobody could find her mama. Nobody wanted the little girl and I was afraid she'd die in the cold, so we took her. She is now 7 years old.

And you all know Mollipop's story....she came to us from the vet back in the spring.

I know the lineage of all of mine except Spanky. Until I bought my own live trap 7 years ago, unfortunately there were a 3 females that had a few litters before I was able to trap them. Stumpy and Eightball are half brothers. They are uncles to the rest of my cats. Pinky and Lucky are also half brothers, with Scarlett, Muddy and Koko cousins of them. Muddy and Koko are littermates. I rarely caught the fathers, as I lived way in the country and the males only showed up long enough to mate and never ate on my property. I'd set traps in the woods around my property but never caught the males. I TNR'd all the females that I could catch. I suspect that Spanky is related somehow, as he was dumped by a neighbor and I'm sure his father is the same as some of mine. I was the only one that TNR'd.

I got Ernesto and Mimosa from a farm and there I saw their siblings and their mom. One sibling got adopted out too, one of them died. I saw their mom and last remaining sister with her kittens during a return visit, but sadly they are all dead now, that farm was a dangerous place for cats.

Flynn and dEUS have a pedigree, I have met Flynn's father and mother and have been to several catteries that have bred and still own cats that are in his pedigree.
During a show the breeder of Flynn's grandmother came to his cage to take a look at him and became very emotional (she cried) because he is the spitting image of his grandma who she had to rehome.
There is even a member of this site who had a Somali (I looked him up just now and was very sorry to read he is deceased ) that I could connect with mine, even though we are on different continents.

I have not made an in depth study of dEUS' ancestors, his father was imported from Norway so that makes it a bit more complicated.
In 2006 I did see a relative from his father's side on the fife world show that was held in my country that year.
I have become good friends with dEUS' breeder and through her I have been able to follow all his siblings and their offspring, I've gotten to know several breeders and kittenbuyers who own his halfbrothers/sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and their offspring.

I try to keep tabs of my cat's family so I might be able to buy a cat from the same lines if I ever buy another Birman or Somali. It is also useful to know if there are any health problems or deaths in the family.
