How do I know shes got no more to deliver? Her belly is still big. Shes not having any contractions, shes sleeping and purring. Her last one was at 6:30ish..its not 9:15pm

I don't know how you tell if she is done...
maybe you should post in the other thread about this.

My guess is that she is doing well, just stand by, don't disturb her to much and wait.

Awww! 2 little tabbies so far. How cute. The average cat litter is 4, but of course that doesn't mean every cat has that many. It can be a few hours between kittens sometimes. If she goes into active labor (pushing and straining, etc.) and no kitten within a half hour, that's when you have to call the vet. But as long as she doesn't seem to be in distress everything should be fine.

When they're all born and dried off and everything, you can post pics of their back ends and somebody should be able to tell you how many boys and girls you have .

Good cause I am clueless on sexing cats. I just noticed she was having a few contractions...so I am expecting a third soon.

What cuties!! Great job!

Question, here is a pic of what is stuck. Came out half way after the last kitten and she is trying to push it out but the rest will not come out. What do I do and is it a placenta?

An here is the Fourth Kitten

Ew, that doesn't look good. It's been more than a half hour now. . .has she managed to pass it? If not, it's time to call the vet, I think.

It looks like the last kitty is pure black! No red kitten yet. . .

No she hasnt passed it w/e it is, its wrapped in a tough outer layer
post #16 of 32
Is she still straining? Have you tried giving it a VERY gentle tug (veryvery gentle; you don't want to rupture anything) to see if it moves at all? Like I said, I've only ever had the one birthing personally, so I don't have any experience here. I wonder if you make a thread in the breeders sub-forum, if an experienced breeder would see it or if they all went to bed already. Maybe if you call the emergency clinic and explain what's happening, they'll have some advice.
The experience I have with birthing cats and dogs, I have never seen that... I think it is time to take her to the vet...
Since it has a tough outter layer, then it might be part of the mommy!! I'd be scared to tug on it. I saw something on fabcats.org about "uterine prolapse" but I don't want to diagnose since I'm not a vet. http://www.fabcats.org/breeders/info...rturition.html
post #19 of 32
The photos won't load for me, but the coloured discharge mentioned in the other thread is concerning usually it's clear and coloured means death/infection.

She may have prolapsed, could be a dead or mummified kitten

I hope you have at least called the vet by now.

She has a uterus prolapse and the uterus itself ripped open. I decided the best option was euthanasia because it would of costed a lot of money to repair and there was no guarentee. Lesson learned, from now on any females will be spayed at 6 months. I am so upset right now, I am going to go to bed and I probably will not be on here for a while.

Thanks for those who helped me

So sorry, will you be hand raising the little ones?

Also, in future spay before 4 months as they can come into heat that early.

No, I dont have the time or finances to raise a litter of kittens. The clinic said they would see if they could find a lactating mother. I am so upset right now, this is my fault. If I spayed her none of this would be happening.

Oh my goodness hun, I am so incredibly sorry to hear this... A tragic lesson to learn for sure. I know it is easier said than done but try not to beat yourself up for it. Chloe is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
I haven't posted in any of your threads but I have been following and waiting for the birth of the kittens. I am so so so sorry for your loss(es). Don't beat yourself up over this, you had absolutely NO WAY of knowing this was going to happen. I sure do hope they find a lactating mother or a foster who can hand raise those babies . Lots of and for you to get thru this hard time.

Play happily over the Rainbow Bridge Chloe, you are a beautiful now!
Oh no, that's terrible! I'm so sorry to hear it. I knew it didn't look good but I didn't expect to hear this.
Wow what a sad update. So sorry to hear.

At least you were able to help her at end to not suffer. Hope it works out with kittens finding a mom cat or bottle feeder
