Mouse Hunter

My indoor cat Milo got out the other night. He came home a few hours later but the next morning we found a dead mouse in the backyard. We are assuming he caught and killed it. Today he has runny stool. It is orangey and smells foul. I am wondering if the dead mouse and his stinky poop are connected. He hasn't had any change of food or anything that I can link to his runny stool. Any idea what this may be? I am worried that it might be some kind of parasite. I have 2 other cats that share the litter boxes. He is scheduled for his Rabies shot early next month. If possible I would like to hold off on a check up until then but obviously if the runny bowel movements continue I will take him in sooner. I would just like some feedback on what this *could* be and whether or not you think this is major cause for concern.

Thanks much

A few times when Lynxx caught a mouse, he had to be treated for a worm, because he just constantly ate and ate but seemed to be losing weight. He never had anything wrong with his poops though. Maybe your cat did catch something else from the mouse. I'd get him to the vet right away, especially since you have other cats.

Any parasites caught from the mouse shouldn't do anything that quickly - they have to get to the intestines and "hatch" out the the cysts first. If the mouse was whole, chances are he didn't even get anything from it.
But you do not know what else he got into while he was out. He could have gotten into someones trash (very likely) or gotten into some poison someone had put out for some reason. Better safe than sorry and get him to the vet today.
