Hi to you all. So glad I have found you as being a Krazy Kat Woman my favourite subject is my kitty Jake. Please notice I didn't say my "little" kitty as he is massive!

I have previously had cats but haven't had one since I've been with my current husband as I wasn't sure his philosophy on cat ownership was the same as mine, i.e. the cat is a valid member of this family not something to be pushed to one side and ignored.

Anyway, I had been a bit down recently so he surprised me by arranging with the local animal sanctuary to get a cat. Most of the cats in the sanctuary were either black or black and white. We went in a stroked a few and saw one we thought was cute called Violet. We went into her pen to stroke her and Jake appeared from the hooded bed he had been hiding in. He is a beautiful tabby with a white chin and he is huge!

It was the famous line from Jaws "We're going to need a bigger boat" only this time it was "we're going to need a bigger cat box"! Anyway, the kind staff from the sanctuary managed to get him into the box (I don't even want to know how).

We got Jake home and let him out. I had said to hubby that we must sit quietly, speak softly and let him have a good wander round and come to us if he wanted something. Jake shot behind the sofa and refused to come out, no matter how much we coaxed. In the end, we had to move all the furniture into the centre of the room.

The next day we went to work. Hubby was on a half day so he came home. He found Jake upstairs head first in a corner wedged in between one of the bedside cabinets and the wall of the spare bedroom. He coaxed him out and downstairs.

Since then he has really settled in nicely. No more hiding behind the furniture for Jake. Although it took him quite a few weeks to "discover" upstairs. Now his day is spent laid stretched out on the upstair window ledge getting an updraft from the radiator and the heat of the sun through the window. Definitely basking in the warmth. When the sun moves round, he gets on the bed and snoozes the afternoon away.

He hates strangers though. They really upset him. If we have any visitors, he hides upstairs in his room (the spare bedroom). Which is a bit embarassing when most of our visitors are family who have come to see him.

Anyway, that's enough as an introduction but there are many more tales of Jake's antics including when he nearly concussed himself having one of his private washes and hubby enthusiastically ripped a label off something causing Jake to smack himself on top of his head with his foot!

I am looking forward to meeting similarly dotty people on here. I'm sure I won't be disappointed!
