Early last August my DIL gave birth to 3 baby girls. They were very premature at 28 wks, 5 days gestation and only weighed about 2 1/2 lbs. each (2 were smaller and 1 was a little bigger). They are now a little more than 3 months old and weigh 6'11", 7'15" and 8'2" - average sizes for newborns. No, they aren't identical, though there is a real family resemblance!

As Thanksgiving approaches, we are so thankful that these 3 precious little girls have had no serious health issues, and appear to be growing and developing normally.

They live about 300 miles south of me, so I haven't been there constantly. But I am leaving Tuesday to spend the next 2 weeks with them.

My DIL has been a marvel. She has insisted on feeding them breast milk. Because they were born so early, it took her 2 weeks of steady pumping every 3 hrs, day and night, before she produced milk. She is continuing to pump every 3 hours throughout the day and night, and will do so for as long as she is able. It's an incredible commitment for even a mom with only 1 baby! But 3 is exhausting and I will get a work-out during the next couple of weeks! Feeding and diapering alone is nearly a full time job!

They are adorable. They are very blessed to have a mommy who loves them that much and is committed to unselfishly making sure they have the best nourishment despite challenges.

They are BEAUTIFUL! 28 weeks 5 days is awesome for triplets! I had my daughter Lexi ay 29 weeks 3 days in April, so I understand some of what your family has been going though, I can't imagine going through it with three! I commend your DIL for pumping, I only made it 27weeks pumping before I stared giving my DD formula, its a HUGE time commitment it was too much on me once she got out of the "newborn" stage.

PS I LOVE the wubbanubs! I wish our NICU had had them!

Aren't they cute? The girls love them.

You know what they've been through - 55 days in the NICU! But they have had no brain bleeds or any health issues, so we are very grateful.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and well wishes!

From L to R

Emma Grace (the smallest one)
Abigail Rose (the biggest one now, but the lightest and the longest when born)
Lily Ann (the biggest one at birth)

Thanks!! Triplets are still unusual enough that I had to share!

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Oh my goodness! SOOO CUTE!

I'm thankful that we're only have one (I don't think I could have handled the stress of figuring out how to afford more than one baby right now), but I'm soo excited to see how she turns out. This makes me want to hold our little girl NOW. lol

Ok, I need to turn away before I start crying. STUPID HORMONES! lol

They're really adorable, and it's wonderful that they're doing so well! Have a terrific time during your visit (what grandmother wouldn't, though I imagine triplets can be quite a handful?).
