Question Of The Day - Saturday, November 13th

Good morning!

Since we got a huge amount of snow earlier this week, today's 2 part question is about winter.

Do you have snow yet? Do you like winter?

We got about 20 cm (8 inches) of snow on Wednesday. It caught a lot of people off guard. Fortunately, I was ready. Generally, I don't mind winter. You can have a lot of fun tobogganing or skiing. The worst is that first day of winter driving. It's not that it's hard to drive in it (at least not for me), it's just that as soon as we get a bit of snow, everyone suddenly loses their knowledge of how to drive. They end up going 40 in a 100 zone, making everyone late. And then the next day everyone's alright again. Personally, I don't mind winter driving. I don't have a problem with it at all.

No snow here yet and I am hoping it stays that way for a while.

I like winter, and I like snow..at least the first snow fall...and only if I don't have to go anywhere. I'm sorry, I'm a complete wuss when it comes to driving in snow. I will do it if I have to, but I'm a nervous wreck the entire time. Ice? Nope, ain't going anywhere!

^Same here. The constant worry is that even if I drive carefully, most of the people around here can't handle a little snow. Plus I have a camaro...

No snow. It's not that cold yet. I don't like winter, either. I'm skinny enough that I don't keep warm very well so I spend most of the winter bundled in layers of clothes and under blankets. I can't turn the heat up as much as I'd like to stay warm as it would make everyone else in the house mad. (they'd overheat)

No snow yet! I don`t like winter but it`s ok if we get some proper snow! Usually it`s just cold and wet
post #6 of 29
Nope it has been around 70 degrees in the past week here in Atlanta.
I like winter, the colors, and I like snow, but I like to be warm more.

It's snowed here twice, but luckily it has all melted by the next day.
We got our first snow last night. *pout* I don't mind winter, I just hate snow. Everyone around here forgets how to drive when it snows, so it's dangerous out.

UGH!!!! I hate the stuff - spent hours pushing it around into heaps so I could get out of the yard. The road was icy but the highway is finally clear. Can sure see where people hit the rhubarb though, deep ruts into the ditches. Jeez, TigerOnTheProwl, you COULD have kept all that mess in the city!!!ROFL Did talk to a neighbour that had gone to Saskatoon for a few days and he was right sour at the mess they have to clean out.

Keep it all here? No I like to share the 'fun'. Apparently, Saskatoon has it much worse than we do. My aunt and uncle live there. They sure weren't happy to see all of this all of a sudden. At least I have a snow blower.

Rhubarb. I absolutely love rhubarb. I used to eat it all the time at my uncle's farm in Dinsmore.

Snow what's that? We haven't seen snow here since '85 but considering I'm in south texas it's normal. I wish we truly had all four seasons here. I also wish we'd get snow at least once a year and fall colors and weather in the 60's or colder.
We get snow about every other year, and we are due for it this year! It usually snows once or twice and stays on the ground a couple of days... perfect for the kids and anyone else (like me) who loves that magic from the sky!

I love winter, but I also love spring, summer and fall (they're all great in this climate).

You didn't get snow on Christmas Eve 2004? I thought all of Texas got snow then, it was all over the news. I haven't lived in Texas for about 13 years but I remember the snow of '85; there were a couple of storms and we got an extra long Christmas/New Year vacation from work 'cause everything shut down. Yay!

I don't mind winter at all as far as the cold. It's the snow and ice that I don't like, I even have a hard time walking on ice. You can always keep warm by the clothing you wear and by turning up the heat so that's not a problem for me.

No we have not had any snow at all yet, in fact today is in the 60's and very sunny.

This for me too. Hate it and hate winter.

Yes it is lightly snowing now - but we had snow and rain mixed so its not accumulating very much (maybe 1/2 inch on the grass and windshield of the car). Not sure how much by this evening them the temps fall.

We are going to the cities shortly to a concert later tonite - I figure we will be cleaning the car off of a few inches of snow when we come out!

What is this 'snow' you speak of?

I was out raking the leaves today; it is 21'C or 70'F. I'm sure this is a record breaking day as i dont every recall it being this warm November 13th. (I live in Nova Scotia, the east coast of Canada). I love snow. But I like one good storm, then cold enough to keep it but no more..*L. Snow keeps the mud in the yard and not in the house....thanks to the dogs...

I wish, I LOVE snow.

One large part of why I dislike living in Charleston is the lack of snow/real winter. Hubby hates snow, so he loves it here. I AM hoping it snows again this winter though, since in February we got over 5" - talk about a freak occurrence here! It's already been getting down into the low 30s at night and it's only November, so my fingers remain crossed we will have snow again!

I will say, people here haven't the slightest idea how to drive in clear, sunny weather, add snow in the mix and it's insanity. I grew up with it, so it's nothing to me to drive in it. They aren't set up to deal with it though here like they were in Jersey.

No, no snow here yet, its been cold enough though and raining alot, I would rather have snow than rain, I love snow.xx

It does not snow around here much. We get snow every 10-12 years. Last time it snowed was Jan 1999. My boss at the time called me and told me not to try and come in. DH called his job and told us we could not get our garage door open, therefore he couldn't get the car out to go to work! The snow had drifted about 6 inches or so. We had about 3 inches on the ground. Here that is a lot!!!!

Nope, nothing on our side of town or most of the town.

The VERY far north-side of town that's basically the foothills of the hill country I think got a very, very light dusting but absolutely nothing but ice pellets that day for us. I even stayed up late that day. Very disappointing

Oh believe me, I wasn't shoving by hand, I put the tractor to work for several hours to move the drifts to heaps.

Well, dang, showing my age with the phrase 'hit the rhubarb' - it has nothing to do with the fruit but with hitting ditches.

I know. It just reminded me of the good ol' days

I like snow until mid-January then it can go away not to return until the holidays.

Last February, we had record snowfall and it was awful. There was talk that the cities were running out of road salt.

Give me spring and summer anytime...winter can take a hike.

No and no.

we have just a little snow. Last night we had freezing rain. The drive to the city this morning was a little scary. I will take snow any day over freezing rain. I love the snow and winter. I just wish our winter was a little shorter,

No snow here but I like snow to look at...to be outside in or drive in..nope cant stand it hate it and hate other drivers with a passion. Unfortunately now this year if there is big snowstorms over night we will get the buttcrack of early phone call for me to drive BF to work so he can help plow businesses out...He gets to man the shovel..one of those perks of being license-less.
None here yet, thank goodness. Actually, our weather has been above normal temps, into the 60s! It's been just gorgeous and we've taken advantage to get lots of outside work done. This week, we're going back down to below normal temperatures.

The snow is coming, but it can take its good ol' time, as far as I'm concerned. I don't like driving in it and I don't like being cold.
