What cat treats do you give your furbabies?

What is in those treats that make them so irresistible for cats?

I buy Temptations in the zip lock bag. As an experiment, I had a bag of croutons with the same type of bag. No kitties when opening the croutons, all kitties opening the cat treats.

I have some Temptations around here, too. There was an adoption event at the local plant over the summer (wow... those 100+F days seem far away now!) They were shipped more than they needed so I ended up with a box worth. The treats are saved for rewards.

My cats aren't that discerning. I can crinkle any similar bag and they'll think I have treats. I constantly have them mistake the catnip bag for the cat treat bag..

I just use high quality kibble for treats. Mazy only gets her c/d, but when it is treated as treats instead of a meal she is just as happy.

I have one cat that loves Temptations and one who won't touch them. Squeak will do tricks for her treats. She will roll over on command and gets treats as a reward. It's very cute!
She also rolls over on her own when she is begging for treats. Smart kitty.

Temptations or Friskies Party Mix. I keep them in the cupboard with the dishes are Little One knows exactly where they are. She will sit on the floor and meow like crazy then look at me, then the cupboard, me then the cupboard...yeah, she's got me trained.

They like most any treats. I am planning to get some tartar control Temptations soon. Sort of sneak something in that's good for their teeth.

This sounds mean, but I can pick up a little bit of their regular dry food, make a big deal out of it, and they think it's a special treat. It's all in the presentation.

The only treats that Nora will eat are Greenies. She won't eat any other ones, I think I've bought them all. lol Just saying the word "treat" though, will get her running in a hurry to the laundry room (where the treats are kept, above the washer).

I did that with deworming tablets.. Too bad it only worked once. But I often do pretend that I have something very special for them and ask to give a paw if I want them to eat something, works quite well.

I give them some tartar-removing treats and somekind of sticks which are individually wrapped (contain only meat products, I think the brand was Catessy). And 'fresh meat snacks' from PrimaCat. Sometimes I get Whiskas treats (different kinds, in kitty head shaped box), pure junk food.

the only one all my kitties can agree on is Party Mix, but they rarely get treats... when you have a large amount of kitties, treat time can get out of control

I also give Autumn Temptations, some are to keep the hair and skin in good health, one is for tarter control. She seems to love all of them. I also give her Friskies treats, they have a few different flavors. She doesn't like them half as much as the Temptations tho.

Friskies usually the party mix. Or Whisker Licken's they love those.

I used Temptations Alaskan Salmon for a while because my cats both go nuts for them, until I realized it was making one of my cats vomit every time he had one. From what I looked up, it's a more common problem than I thought.

I switched to Pounce and Greenies after that, and both my guys love them.

Mine like Temptations and Oven Roasted Chicken flavored Greenies. Right now they are liking the Green Temptations, which are Dentabytes! They switch off their likings on the Temptations. Some days they're into the Dairy flavor, some days Beef, etc. But Callie will NOT eat the Turkey flavor. She's more into Whiska Lickins Tuna.

For Stinkpot and Darko, getting Treats is more a game than anything else. I toss them across the room, down the hall, etc. and they have such a grand time jumping up in the air for them, chasing each other to see who can get there first, etc. I don't think it's the treat, really, it's the chase. Sometimes when we're done with the treats (I DO try to limit their intake), I continue using kibble, just because their having so much fun .

Callie and Sven, on the otherhand, like to eat theirs in peace, so she gets on the kitchen counter where she will be uninterrupted, and he goes upstairs and waits for me to bring his up there to him, which I do. Talk about being spoiled

I usually get the furkids a variety of treats, Temptations, Party Mix, Pounce, Greenies, etc. We have a big coffee container full of a mix of treats and all I have to do is touch it for them all to come running.

I bought a bag of organic catnip today and lets just say....kitty party at Laurie's house! No, I did not give them the whole bag. .

The only treats my kitties get are greenies and taste of the wild kibble. They like the greenies but both of them are completely addicted to the TOTW. Swanie in particular. If I'm anywhere upstairs, he will quickly show me the closet that holds the container of TOTW. He's like a pointer kitty - Come on mom! Treats are in Here! He doesn't get them every time, of course, but he keeps on trying. Cindy will beg too, but she's very dignified in how she does it - sits there by the closet with her tail wrapped around her front paws - which I've learned means I want something to eat!

Chase the Kibble Game is a very popular Game around here too!

I've tried offering kitty treats and all mine turn their noses up.. they might eat one now and then, but they dont seem too interested in treats... or canned food for that matter...even my parents cats turn down canned food and treats. We found this odd, because when I was a kid, every cat we had loved treats and canned food.

I havent tried any on the lil kitten.. she seems pretty food motivated, so she may like treats and canned food.

Now, if I open a can of TUNA.. they all come running!

Z/D for Hope and Bugsy. Lucky has become addicted to pill pockets

GiGi will eat any kind of treat she can get her paws on. Even dog treats. I got samples of Fromm food for Franklin and she went nuts over it even went as far as to smack Franklin over the head when he tried to eat his own food, she picked out the Fromm pieces. But for regular cat treats I can grab any kind possible and she will gobble them down. Hercules is a little more picky and it has to be moist and he has a preferance for chicken or cheese kind, everyone once in a while he will go for tuna kinds. I havent given Bacon/Jules any treats yet or Ramsie but Im sure when they are both settled down and ready to try them Ill have yet 2 more treat hounds. I have to be like a ninja trying to open the cupboard where Franklins chewies are because if they hear that door open its a stampeed and Im sure to be mauled by my treat wanted kittys.

A question about this thread. How many pieces do you give your kitty at one time. A handful or half of that or do you count them out. I give Autumn less than half a handful at one time, what about you.

Mine are obsessed with Temptations treats! (Right now they have the Temptaiton Natural Wild Alaskan Salmon, but they like just about any bag I've ever tried them on!)

They also get baked chicken, yogurt, freeze-dried salmon treats from WildSide (my dogs eat those too) and Grandma Lucy's freeze-dried treats as well. They also LOVED the treats my SS sent them last year for Christmas (I think they were some sort of kitty "party mix" treats but I can't find them in the stores here.)

-LaRussa -My kitties only get two small pieces each when I handout the bagged treats- I normally give out treats 1-2x a day. Anytime they get a treat (homemade or bagged) I cut back on their regular kitty food a hair so that way I can monitor their weight and keep them healthy.

Uh oh, looks like I'm giving Autumn too many, I better cut down on the treats.

Since mine rarely get treats I normally give them about 5+ pieces at a time, and whatever Hercules doesnt eat its free game for GiGi....But they very very rarely get treats mostly because I either forget I have them or I dont need to get into the chewie door for Franklin because he hasnt gone thru his supply of chewies around the living room.

Temptations have been banned. My kitties were too addicted to them. Breaking the habit for Molly was horrible.

Now they only get greenies and they haven't had major dental work since.

We give out 3 at a time however they beg all day. I don't give in as much as DH and Mom. They really get bugged. lol

I only buy treats when I have a coupon that makes them free...so right now they have a few bags of temptations, whiska lickins, natural sensations, goodlife recipe and party mix. I need to give them more often as I just had to throw a bag out that had went bad. Mostly for treats I give raw meat-giblets or liver or whatever i'm cutting up for dinner.

Mika loves cheesies and potato chips. As soon as she hears the bag open she's all over us like white on rice!
I buy different kinds of treats, usually whatever is on sale or I have a coupon for, and Genever likes them all pretty much. Greenies, Whisker Lickins, Temptations, crunchy, soft, tuna, chicken, salmon, whatever. And she likes Pill Pockets too, which is a good thing since she gets a pill everyday. Makes it SOOOOO easy.

I know there's horrible stuff in most of them, but I figure if I can eat potato chips or scary neon orange Cheetos once in a while, then she can eat her junk food too.

She gets treats when I think to give them to her, which isn't always everyday, and when she gets treats, I'll usually give her 3-5 or so.
