HI all--my kitten has been licking lips a lot

Hi all. I am a new cat owner for the first time as an adult and it's quite different than what I expected. My family is me, my husband, and my son and now Ginger my kitty. She's 4 months november 21st.

I just took her to the vet for the first time to get more shots (she was a stray and was found so the person who had her took her to the vet) Anyway, yesterday I took Ginger to the vet near me. She was given Fvrcp Vaccination Y? and Rabies 1 year vaccination and also she had mites so they gave her mitaclear.

Last night she started to salivate and drooling. I got scared but my husband said not to worry but I still am. Was wondering if she actually licked her mitaclear could that make her do that. She's also been licking her lips a lot. Right now I think she's only drooled a little last night and today maybe once or twice but she acts normal. But when I was playing with her this morning I was wondering maybe she's nauseas from the vaccination. Or could it be that she licked her mitaclear somehow thats on her by scratching her near her ear with her paw since it was still wet.

Thanks for the read if anyone could let me know what this could be I would be thankful.

Licking lips is a sign of nausea. Is she eating and drinking?

Pls call your vet and explain the symptoms.

I am not familiar with the use of Mitaclear and it side effects for treating earmites. Did you get it at the vet or online?

From vetinfo.com
http://www.vetinfo.com/feline-vaccine-side-effects.html

Many veterinarians recommend the FVRCP vaccination that protects your cat against Calcivirus, Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Panleukopenia (distemper). Side effects of this common feline vaccine include:

* Sneezing for two or three days, if the nasal spray vaccination is used
* Runny nose
* Cats throwing up for a day or two after the vaccination
* Nasal or oral sores
* Cat depression

So, the licking lips could be related to the nausea side effect from the FVRCP vaccine. Give it a couple more days and see if there is an improvement.

Sounds like she's reacting to something for sure. Definitely warrants a call to the vet.

How is she today?

After I had Scaredy (a young feral) spayed, she came home and hid for a week, with a lot of lip licking. She also had shots given then. Looking back, I feel like she was hurting. She had just been brought in from the streets, so I figured that was the reason for hiding. Now I'm sure it was pain, probably from the spay. But the licking was VERY pronounced at the time.

Hope things get better with your kitty soon.
