Gozer was outside yesterday.. Im not sure if she snuck out or someone let her out. I did not know she was out, or I would have made her come in.
I got the baby settled down for bed, took Fred out for a pee, and saw Gozer under my car. She meowed funny.. then she kind of drug/crawled from under the car towards me. She was hurt, and in pain. I got a towel, put her in it and carried her in so I could get a closer look at her.
She wasnt wanting to use her back legs at all.. one leg had a wound on it. I called the cat vet- fortunantly they do ER calls for clients. I took her in.. I explained to the vet that its between pay day and funds are limited.. so she did her best diagnosis from phsically examining Gozer. Vet could determine that she had a broken pelvis, and dislocated hip. Vet said she could make a better prognosis with xrays. Best-case scenario would be crating her for 6 weeks and giving her pain meds.. worse case scenario is that she'd need surgury to recover.. hip surgury on cats does not always work out well.. if Gozer had suffered nerve damage there's also a possability that she'd be disabled and need assistance with the litter box. Because of the angle of one leg, and the fact that she wasnt wanting to use her back legs at all, the vet did not feel likely that Gozer would be in the best-scenario.
I could not see Gozer stay in pain. She's such an active, ornery cat.. I couldnt see her having any quality of life if she was disabled. I chose to have her put to sleep.
RIP Gozer, rainbow bridge is a beautiful place.. there's good company up there for you to romp and play with.
