Cat fights

Hello
My daughter aquired a new kitten in July. I have two spayed females that have been with me for at least 8 years. I tried to slowly introduce the kitty into the household. The kitty has its own food, water and box in my daughters room. After all this time , one of the adult cats is fairly tolerant of the new kitty .....the other , which is considerably larger is very aggressive in hunting the kitty and when I am not there o intervene the cat ,will stalk and pounce on the kitty ( who now has no love for the adult) and a row will ensue....sometimes its pretty rough....the kitty poops all over , hair flies and sometimes there's some blood spilled. I am not sure how to resolve this. I'm not a cat expert....just grew up with tons of them at the farm....never really had this issue before. As I said , the other cat seems reasonably tolerant of the little kitty....I can not leave them all unsupervised without coming back to find fur and poop all over along with the occasional spray of blood. Now if the kitty sees the adult , she will crouch down but start growling too. If the adult gets hold of her....well she blows ballast everywhere.....sighhhhhhh....
Any ideas????

I think it is more difficult for females to get along. I had your problem when I had only girls in the house. I never had to introduce a kitten though. I am a bit worried that your kitten is traumatized already. Have you read the stickies on cat intros? Even though the kitten came July, you may have to start from scratch and use the methods suggested in the stickies like scent exchanges, using feliway diffusers, etc.
Putting the aggressor on "time out" when she misbehaves may help also.

I wish I had some advice, but I do have an observation.

While accompanying a friend to get her cat spayed, we went through the cat adoption center at the clinic. They had 380 cats there in several different rooms, segregated into similar groups - kittens, seniors, special needs, etc. One room was all torti and calico females. All the cats in the various rooms were calm - no aggressive behavior or fighting. Why is that? You would think that there is at least one trouble maker in the group of 380!
