Hello fellow cat lovers,

I recently visited a cat home not so far from here and decided to round up some money to help. Basically it gets a bit cold in the winter (and being in Sweden when it's cold it's bloody cold) and then in the summer it gets a bit warm, I'm hoping to gather enough money + help from local companies to fix that for them. I'm hunting around for small donations, anything from a $1 up.
If you can help then fantastic and thank you! If not I will keep on hunting.

Here is the site with some information, I will be in more talks with the cat home soon and will be updating the website with much more information.

Best wishes and god bless

Good luck with your project. I'm an American of Swedish ancestry. I visited your country once, and the homes two of my great-grandparents came from in the 1890's. I loved Sweden.

Where is this cat home?

God bless you, too!

So, I donated, and found out you have an Italian last name. Must be a story there. Of course I realize that people of all sorts of heritages live in Sweden now, like everywhere.

However, if my family came from Italy, I doubt I'd go to the land of the mid-night sun (yuck) and the terrifying winters.

Do tell.

Also, I hardly saw any cats when I was in Sweden. It was the summer, June. Do they all stay indoors? I was all over - from Stockholm to way north, to the North Sea, to Malmo, and I hardly saw a cat. And I'm always looking for them. It was peculiar.

Just a reminder

From the Mod Team Regarding Pleas for money:

Cats are a huge responsibility. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should not have one in their life. They are dependent on us for everything from providing a place to eat, to also providing vet care.

Anyone who has cats knows that they can and do get ill. Your best defense is to plan for that to happen before it does, and store monies away in preparation.

If you read about a plight of an animal on the internet and your heart is drawn to help. Check out the story thoroughly. Google the vet's name or call Directory Assistance in the city and be sure this is a legitimate claim.

Do not blindly send money into a paypal account no matter how heart-wrenching the story. Instead reach out to the member and ask for the vet's name and phone number, and arrange to send the money there for the specific needs of the cat in question.

If that information cannot be provided- you have your answer. Report the post to a moderator so that it can be removed for not being on the level.

Sweden doesn't have a big stray cat population (no stray dogs at all) so most cats are owned and pretty well cared for so you wouldn't see a lot of cats running around outside. In the cities most are indoor cats.

This may sound bad but I don't think it's a good idea to hit people up for money on an American site for cats in Sweden. Here in the US there are hundreds of thousands of cats living in complete misery and there are no resources to care for the majority of them. We gas cats in this country because there aren't even resources to euthanize them humanely. Sweden has none of this problem. At the one dog shelter in the capital there is a waiting list to adopt! Sure, there are cats in need there but it's a small, manageable problem so the resources should be available in Sweden. It's not like it's a poor country. If there is money to spare for cats here it should go to cats here, imho.
