Please excuse this but it's a copy/paste from an e I just sent to some of my non-cat friends:
Ater five of the worst days of my life, I am home. I made it through the chemo portion of the immune system reboot and returned home around 5:30 last night. I slept a LOOOOOOOONG sleep and am enjoying a little computer before going back to bed.
Things didn't go without a hitch. Day 2 I was given magnesium as it was low and it aggravated the myasthenia and I got really sick. Dh and dd made an emergency trip and a neighbor came as well and stayed the night with me. I quickly learned I couldn't do this alone.
Day 3 went well until they gave me some anti-nausea meds that caused an extremely fast heartrate (rare side effect). I also got a fever as I frequently do just prior to menses (sorry men who are reading). At the first sign of the fever I had blood cultures done from port and arm, urine check, chest x-ray, EKG, physical exam by about 40 doctors, etc. Of course the fever went away in 3 hours as I told them it would. The heartrate stayed high until the med went out of my system, and I convinced them to no longer give it (I googled the info and showed them.)
Anyway, my precious neighbor again returned to help me through the last night, or "night of the vomitus." It was rough but I made it. My discharge was delayed (the sign said DC at 11:00 am, but they seemed none to anxious to adhere to that.)
So now I'm isolated to my house, waiting for my white count to drop to zero, my hair to fall out and to begin the regrowing process of my immune system. I will start that on Sunday. I am eating better at home (the odors at the hospital were horrible and it was worse knowing they were mainly coming from ME!!!!!)
Surprisingly, I can already tell some subtle differences. I can now suck from a straw normally without using the side of my mouth. My voice is stronger and less nasal, I am choking less and I even whistled yesterday (I haven't done that in over 5 year!) I do have double vision right now (hormones) so we shall see how that goes.
Thank you all for your support and interest. It is great to be home. My kitties are so cute, 2 with their fresh baths from my neighbor. She even used "show coat" on them so they look like real pedigreed babies!!!! Unfortunately, all of my pets seem to sense I'm unwell and are avoiding me. I guess that's really a good thing. At least I can enjoy seeing their cute little faces.
Hope everyone is doing well.
