We have 8 cats.

2 should weigh 7-8 pounds. (Flowerbelle weighs a little less, Ming Loy a little more - she needs to loose 1-2 pounds).
3 should weigh 10 pounds. (Billy's now about 4 pounds overweight!
)
1 weighs 11-12 pounds
2 weigh around 14 pounds (and are thin with large frames).

We were feeding c/d wet and dry as follows - guidelines as per vet.

Free feeding on measured dry. I'd put out 1.5 cups in the morning (in 3 bowls), and the same at night, for a total of 3 cups a day. The minimum per cat, if feeding ONLY dry, would have been 5 cups a day (at 5/8 C per cat - the little ones needing less, the bigger ones needing a little more). The guideline for a 10-12 pound cat was 5/8 C - 3/4 C.

There's no instructions on the cans (5.5 oz), but we split one can between the 8 cats. I didn't split it evenly between them, but gave the smaller kitties less (and Billy less), and middle kitties a little more, and the big kitties the most. I add water to everyone's wet food.

This was fed both morning and evening.

NOW... I need to eliminate Brewers Rice as an allergan for Chumley, and Billy NEEDS to loose weight. So I picked up the dry food.

I realized today - I have no idea how much wet food they're supposed to be eating. The can just says "feed as per veterinarian instructions."

What I did yesterday and today is feed them four wet meals - exactly as I have been BUT I've also been splitting a jar of baby food among them as a "flavor" topper at each meal.

This means the most (canned) food the smallest cat has been getting is probably just a little more than 3/8 of a can, the middle-sized kitties are probably getting 1/2 a can, and the big kitties are getting a little less than 3/4 of a can (total in a 24-hour period).

That doesn't seem like much - does it?
The weird thing is - the only cats that finish their bowls clean are Chumley and Ming Loy. Everyone else leaves some (and always has). Is that just because they're used to nibbling on dry throughout the day?

I'm fine with Billy and Ming Loy - even Chumley, at this point - loosing some weight. But we can't afford for Lazlo, Flowerbelle, or Tuxedo to loose any at all.

We're at the vet Friday. But until then... anyone already feeding c/d wet have any idea?

Ummm....I *think* my vet said between 2 - 4 cans/day for Squishy, who is about 14 lbs. That was wet C/D only, and that was also like 2 (or maybe 3?) years ago shortly after I first got him.

1 oz per pound = basically 2 cans per 11 pound cat. So Nat, that works out to what Jen said.

Re: baby food, it's Gerber 2.5 oz jar, 100 calories per jar (divided 8 ways). It's a little less than a teaspoon per cat.

So if they're getting so little food the last two days - why are they not complaining, and why are they not finishing their food?

This morning, Spooky didn't even want her first meal - though she did finish her last meal last night. So weird!!!!
