squeeking

Jericho has been walking around the house squeeking, not meowing, just little squeeks. I thought it was bc he was bored but when I try to play with him he isn't interested at all. He has food, water, clean litter box, and plenty of toys to play with on his own.
Is there a reason he is doing this? Is it because he's getting to the age of neutering? I just want to make sure he's happy, and it seems like he's just walking around whining.

He just suddenly started it? He hasn't been recently vomiting or trying to hack up a hairball has he? (can make their throat a little raw so they'll meow differently)

Otherwise squeaking in normal cat vocalization. If they find out that we respond to it, they'll keep using it. If he is getting close 4 or 5 months or older, it could be related to maturing.

My 3 month old kitten sqeaks a lot too. He'll just walk down the hall squeaking evry couple seconds like sonar. Sometimes I think he's fishing around to see if anyone is interested in playing with him. When I call his name, he comes running, otherwise he settles down and takes a nap. So I usually take it as an "I'm getting slaphappy, and I'm either going to sleep it off or you're going to come play with me"

Could be something to do with his sexual maturity kicking in, sure. Lots of cats are talkers, and once he's neutered he may continue to chat you up.

Cats have such a wide variety of sounds they can make. Tolly, for instance peeps, meeps, trills, sings, mrps, bbrrrUPs, yeeOWLs and so on. he is rarely silent, ever.

He's been eating and acting fine just alot of whining. He will be 5 months on Saturday, so I guess it could just be his hormones.

Seti hasn't shut up since I brought him home and that was 3 years ago. Good thing I'm smitten with him! He's really loud!

Walking around whining could be hormonal, any reason you're waiting so long to neuter him? He's more than old enough to be neutered now.

2 months is the minimum, though in many areas vets won't do it before 4 months. My kitten was neutered at the shelter at 2 months right before I got him, and he's fine.
