We are a whiskers cat family.

We get our cats, Complete Duck and Turkey, why? simple one of our cats, will only eat whiskers. Problem? Stores never have it, we have to get 2kg bags, and we stock up every so often 2-3 weeks.

I want to get a couple of big bags, 10kg. They only come in chicken. 7.5kg come in tuna.

So, why not get them tuna, they don't really eat tuna, it can stay in their bowl for days, before its gone.

Whats wrong with chicken? they eat it too fast, how fast? Too fast, so fast they throw up.

Bollo eats all 4 guide line daily amount in one meal.

Just because a product says it is "natural" or "healthy" doesn't mean it is. Cats are meat eaters. That's by nature, not choice. Many dry foods are loaded with corn or other grains. They turn to sugar and will turn your cat into a diabetic unless you make sure they get plenty of real (wet food) meat, fish etc.

Check the ingredients on whatever food you are planning to buy. If you see the word "corn" be aware that it will have the same effect as foods with "high fructose corn syrup" have on humans.

This is a very serious issue. Diabetes in cats is very common because so many products are loaded with cheap grain fillers. It is also a horrendous disease with many terrible effects that will cripple or kill your kitty. Worse still, it can come on fairly quickly and be advanced before you recognize it and go for treatment. At that point treatments are very expensive and time consuming and many are very risky.

If you love your kitty, educate yourself about feline diabetes early on, and protect your little pal by feeding them proper food. It will pay for itself in the long run, and save you and your kitty months or even years of agony.

I live in the UK.

Our vet says that they eat the right amount of wet and dry.

Although one cat is too fussy with cat food, he only eats whiskers kitten - Again, vet said as long as he keeps eating at least 1 pouch per day he is fine. Although 2 pouches are ideal.

The cat in question, is Bollo, who loves his food.

We go for whiskers, and when he eats he really eats, our vet says he is just eating too fast. He eats a 30gram bowl in the same time 3 others eat 30gram between them (so basically 3 times as fast). How ever the food we get, is cheeper by bulk, however at £3/KG for the current dry food we use, compared to a different flavour, the chicken flavour turns out to be just £2/KG.

They are the same brands, only different in flavour.

Anyone know how I could do this?

I basically need to introduce food, that he loves, he just loves it so much, he eats it really fast then throws it up. If I give him a small amount, he eats it just as fast, but no throwing up.

Feed him in smaller amounts, but feed him 3 or 4 times instead of 1 or 2 times.

Raise the bowl a few inches A Thick book or a phone book will do it (I have Harry Potter and the 1/2 Blooded Prince
covered with a thick scratch mat), and get yourself a slow feeder - something like these feeders - you can "DYI" by putting a clean baseball or a few ping pong balls inside of the food bowl... This will make him eat slower and in the correct position... I have the same problem with Lucky, and this has helped a lot...

According to whiskers, if I mix the chicken 1:3 against the duck and turkey flavour, he shouldn't be sick and eat it moderately.

I should then change the ratio to 1:2 again, against the duck and turkey, then I should change it to 1:1 ratio, then 2:1 then 3:1 and then 1:0 and he should eat it normally.

Basically introduce it slowly.

Would this work?

Tea tree Oil IS Toxic to cats !

1. No online advice can replace direct veterinary intervention. If you suspect that your cat may be ill, please contact your vet immediately. You are welcome to look for advice in the health forum while waiting for that appointment, but never delay proper veterinary care waiting for Internet advice. Remember that cats, and especially kittens, are very adept in keeping pain to themselves and delaying treatment may cause irreversible damage.

MY cat is only sick due to eating too much too fast. (thats what the vet has said).

I can give him one bit at a time, and he will still eat it too fast.

I think the idea of the bowls Carolina recommended are a great idea - sounds like you need a way to slow down the gluttony!

Your vet said he is sick from eating too much too fast, right? If he is throwing up after 5 kibbles, then I don't see how that is the problem. 5 kibbles cannot fill him up to bursting, which is the problem with cats eating too much too quickly. My cats barely chew as well, all vomit i have seen has had nearly whole kibbles in it, so not chewing isn't the problem either. Cats teeth are made for ripping, not chewing.

Just given him some chicken food, about 15 pieces.

He throw it up, and guess what, each piece is whole...

He dose not throw up the kitten food, which was mixed up with the adult.

I am going to try and mix up 1kg with 1.5kg and see what happens I think
