Here is a short video of my two beautiful cats Max and Sophie: Max loves to get on top of the TV and pull the chain on the ceiling fan while Sophie watches and gives moral support.
My problem is that Max and Sophie are no longer living with me and I miss them very much. I have been "lurking" on this site for over a month now reading about other people's cats. I often go to the "Pet Smart" store to look at the kitties up for adoption, but I am unable to have a cat where I live now.
Sophie and Max were my first cats ever. I have them since they were about 8 and 10 weeks old. My roommate rescued Sophie (the Siamese) from the street when she weighed less than 2 pounds and was infested with fleas. I fell in love with Sophie on first sight. Since my roommate wasn't able to take care of the cat at the time, she became my responsibility. This was my first cat ever. I knew nothing about cats so I got some books and read about cats and checked out on-line websites about cats.
I took Sophie to the Vet several times to get her tested for disease (negative), get rid of her fleas and to get her kitten and rabies shots. Then I brought her back at about 5 months old to get her spayed.
At this point, I felt bad about leaving her alone all day and now my roommate wanted a cat to call her own. I just so happened that there was a note in our lobby that was offering a kitten for adoption. We adopted the black and white "short hair" male, that is Max.
Max and Sophie became great pals, although Max was more outgoing, mischievous, affectionate and playful. Sophie was a scaredy cat, perhaps because of her unfortunate kitten-hood on the streets. It was funny, because Max, the tiny kitten, assumed dominance over Sophie who was three times his size.
Max would swat her with his paw and initiate a play fight. Sometimes, if Sophie would play too rough, Max would say "meow, meow, meow, meow", and Sophie would let him go. lol. They never hurt each other, only me. lol
They would play chase, wrestle and groom each other, which always ended up in a fight. lol. They would sleep close to each other but rarely snuggle together. I was fascinated by observing their "cat behavior" and their individual personalities. They refused to drink water from their bowl, they would only drink it from a glass on my night stand. They trained me to keep that glass full of fresh water at all times. lol Sophie had the most peculiar way of drinking. She would dip her paw in the water and then lick the water off of her paw. Max just stuck his head in the glass and lapped it up.
Anyhow, I am very sad now because I had to move unexpectedly. My roommate had promised to take care of the kitties from the start if I had to go. My roommate got her own apartment and I brought the kitties over, with all their toys, food, carriers, litter boxes, etc.
I miss them so much. What is worse, I am not sure if she still has them. I live in another state and I follow her on her face-book page. She got a new puppy and always puts pictures of the puppy on face-book, but never puts up pictures of the kitties. She comments about the puppies all the time, but she never comments about the kitties. When I ask her about the kitties she says that they are fine, but I don't believe her.
I miss Max and Sophie and I hope that they are OK.
