...I lost my wonderful Grandfather, Cecil, to lung cancer.
We all called him Pop. We have such an incredible bond. I was HIS girl, his first grandchild and everything to him. His love was so unconditional, and I could always talk to him. He taught me how to play numerous different card games and I would always stay over at his place where he would spoil me ROTTEN with treats.

Pop never had much, but everything he DID have he would gladly share with his family. He would do anything for his family. My Nan and Pop divorced when I was just a baby, but he never stopped loving her. She was with him when he passed in the hospital. Her current husband, Don, was very understanding.

Cancer is such a horrid disease! I watched my Pop, a big, strapping bear of a man fade away into nothing more than a skeleton. I was only 18 when he passed but I can't even begin to tell you all how much I still miss him to this day. I wish he could see me now, and see all I have accomplished. I wish that he could have met Dana. He would have LOVED Dana... I wish I could hug him just one more time.
I love you Pop...

This is Pop & my Nan in January, 1959.

Over the river and through the woods...
Your Pop sounds like a wonderful person, and what a great tribute to him. It's the little things that make such precious memories like playing card games.

It's strange how things can just hit you and you miss someone like crazy. I lost my dad 8 years ago 11/3, and the day was just so hard. So, I can understand how you feel.

What a beautiful pair they were, Kailie!! Hugs go to you during this hard anniversary of his passing. He sounds like he was a wonderful, giving man and that fact that he was in your life is obvious to me because he has passed those good qualities on to you!!
