Zoo Advice!

Hey guys! I figure a lot of you have kids, and could probably help me out. I convinced Pat (fiance) that we should take his two nephews to the zoo on thursday. They are 2.5 and 6 months. I know Michael, the little one, won't be very amused, but I know Kaiden will looove it. Any advice on what we should bring? I all ready plan on having their momma dress them in layers (t-shirt, sweater, jacket) so they are comfortable the whole time. Is there anything I can do to ensure they enjoy themselves the whole time. I am incredibly excited, I love these kids and haven't gotten to spend time with them in a few months. We are going to have a blast!

lots of snacks! Just little baggies of stuff like cheerios and carrots and things of that sort! just so that way you dont have to buy concessions every time they want something and then they only eat 2 bites!
Beyond that, not sure! Its been a while since Ive been around babies!
Good luck!

I just took my little sister to the zoo... she is only 3, a little older than the oldest of your bf's nephews. She is incredibly opinionated about everything, though, already, and she told me and DH EXACTLY what she did and did not want to see! At the zoo in my hometown, they have maps with pictures of the animals, and she pointed to the ones she wanted to see. I agree about the small snacks, but your zoo might have rules about eating in designated areas only. One really cool thing that some zoos do let the kids feed some animals - giraffes at my hometown zoo. But that is only at certain times, so make sure you check ahead. And I would definitely suggest the petting zoo if they have one at your zoo... so bring handwipes!
Have lots of fun!!

Aw, good for you! You will have a lot of fun! Besides snacks and hand wipes (excellent suggestions) I would advise you bring water bottles, fresh diapers, hats if necessary, and definitely a place for them to conk out - double stroller OR single stroller and a sling or something to carry the baby in. Have a great time!

So snacks, wipes, diapers, bottles, I want them to have hats and perhaps mittens, plus a small blanket each (just in case!). Their momma wants me to be there early so she can show me how to make the little man's bottles.

It kinda sucks, either two days before or after we are going they are having a program for kids under 5, that has something to do with shapes colors, animal noises etc, but we won't be there that day. I know they have a petting zoo, so we are totally doing that.

I'm pretty sure his sister has a stroller, so but only a single. I figure if Kaiden gets tired he can ride in it and I can take turns carrying Michael with Pat. I am sooo super excited. I love these boys and being with them is marvelous, it is my baby fix!

Most zoos have wagons that you can rent..at least the ones around me do. I would phone them and see if they have wagons and if they do, take a nice thick blanket for Kaiden to sit on. Little kids just love to be pulled in wagons. That will also keep him from tiring out to fast.

Hope you have a great time and don't forget your camera!!

I know they do have wagon and stroller rentals. That would probably be a really good idea. I didn't even think about that! so, wagon rental should be added to our list, lol.

I can't think of anything to add as far as what to bring, but I hope you all have a great time!
