House - the TV Series

Today I've been watching back-to-back shows.

I stopped watching HOUSE a long time ago because all it made me want to do is NOT go to the doctor.

So, without much choice, I'm back to semi-viewing the show while I'm doing other things around the house, as well as on the computer.

They have a sick person.
They diagnose it.
They were wrong.
They decide to start dismembering bodies only to discover that it wasn't the problem they thought ...
and
the mistakes go on for an hour - along with some personal issues the shows bring to the story line - then the person lives, or dies.

So, I wonder - IF you also watch HOUSE what are the lessons that you take away from this show's message?

Me? well - I know that even if there's a health emergency, and the medical people want to do something drastic, like cut on me, I'll be asking for a couple more opinions (more than a "Second Opinion") before I give my approval.

Hum.... I love House! Love it! Love how sarcastic he is, love his attitude, and love to watch how bad he is going to get next... But he is a softy really. Now that he is dating his boss... Even better!
But I don't watch TV shows to take lessons from it... Nah, not the right place for my lessons to come from, really... TV shows for me are entertainment, pure and simple... If i Like it I like it, if I don't I don't.

My husband is so sick of House, he groans when I go to watch it. He's tired of it always being the same.. I think it's interesting seeing House with Cuddy, seeing where that goes.

I watch it just because I like it. I never expected to learn anything from it. It's not a "reality" show, it's just there for enjoyment, not education.

I love House although some of the yearly subplots are tedious like the one with his ex-girlfriend.

You know how they are always saying that the patient has Lupus and doesn't? There is one in which the patient actually does. Yes, I am a fan. Besides, he is supposed be damaged goods with some deep down caring. And I think Hugh Laurie is sexy.

Bit of trivia. Did you know that he played the father in the Stuart Little movie?

I used to watch House, but then they got rid of the regular cast and brought in a bunch of new ones. That ruined the show for me and I rarely watch it anymore, despite them trying to revive it by bringing some of them back again.

There are no lessons to be learned from that show IMHO. As a nurse I can tell you that if any doctor in actual life did any of the things he did to diagnose someone, they would be behind bars.

The show is a show for pure extreme entertainment, no real life lessons, other than to not be a jerk, to take away from it.

My husband laughs because almost every time he also says they could have sarcodosis. I have had it 3 times.

Guess my education taught me to find the "moral of the story", so I look for a lesson in most things I read or view.

Yes, I prefer reading manuals, and how-to's to reading novels.

I suppose it's just my "bent" to ask the "Question" in order to find meaning of things in general.

There are some things more worthy of consideration than others, for sure.

I used to watch it..now I find it annoying as they are all the same.

I caught the last half of an episode for the first time while I was sewing, a couple of weeks ago, it was okay. That House guy seems like a real cranky-pants.

I never started watching it until about 2 years ago.

At first- the kids were too little and it was on at a time when they were still up. Then I found out it was on Monday nights, and Mondays are Bay Youth nights, I was at a rehersal with the kid every single Monday last year. So dh bought season 1 and 2 and I was hooked.

Now that we carpool with someone, I get to watch the new episodes every other week. People said it wasn't as good as the first couple of seasons. I disagree- I think it's still as good.

Yeah- it's silly. Yeah, nothing like that would EVER happen in a hospital. But it's entertainment. I don't really learn anything. The lesson I get out if it is that House is still a grump and a pain even though he's finally dating Cuddy

Hugh Laurie? Really? I didn't know that. And that was one of my girls' favorite movies when they were little

Yes I did know that, he sure looked different then. I love that movie, by the way and I love Michael J. Fox. And altho I can't think of her name right now, the mom was played by the same actress who played Thelma of Thelma and Louise.

Ok now I remember, the mom was played by Geena Davis.

I believe I read back when the show first started that the medical cases are taken from actual cases. Like rabies to treat cancer, or something strange like that. It's not all made up, they really do happen. In any case I love that show and Hugh Laurie is dreamy. It did get a little awkward when they ditched the new cast for the most part and when Cameron left, but it's on the way up now. I still enjoy it. But I'm one of the people who miss Prison Break soooooooo

I love that show. Got two on the DVR to catch up on. I love House's sarcasm, his atheist views and humorous (to me, at least) comments, and I've actually guessed parts of diagnoses before (not sure how I was correct ) I'm interested to see where it goes with Cuddy. Even hubby loves the show.

House & Bones are our two shows, though my DVR is on a Bones strike (has yet to record it even though I told it to!) so because I've missed a few I refuse to watch the current ones until I can view the beginning of the season forward.

Don't think you are suppose to really learn anything from a show like that

I love House..Ive got all the DVD sets...I wont watch this season till it comes out on DVD though. House and Supernatural are two of my favorite shows ever and Im pretty anal that if I cant watch it from the beginning I wont watch it at all till the dvd comes out. Those are the two shows I dont quibble about cost to get, I dont wait for a sale I get the first copy I find at either Best Buy or Wal-Mart and rush home to start watching it.
