If I feed him 1/2 a can at a time and isolate him from Tiggy, he has a healthier appetite, regardless of which wet kidney/renal diet I feed him. The Vet followed up with me and she' seems satisfied with the way Sasha is responding to treatment.

She actually suggested that I only feed him 1/2 can at a time to avoid wasting too much food and to leave a bowl of kidney/mature formula dry on the side; with plenty of water...which I'm already doing!

She also offered to research the Hi Tor renal diet (she's worked in the States for a few years, the brand is familiar to her but that particular food is new to her) on the VIN and let me know if it would be safe for Mr Sasha!

If it's available at Pet Smart, I can grab a case on our next shopping trip to Buffalo!

Thanks! He's definitely more alert; he sometimes gets a bit nasty with Tiggy when Tiggy gets over-playful...so I tell Tiggy not to bug Sasha and I tell Sasha not to be so mean with Tiggy!

And with three litter boxes in the house Sasha still seems to make it a point to pee the floor (this morning right in front of me)
He might be getting a bit senile but he knew he'd done wrong:

I tried to stay calm but I was a bit mad, speaking in a loud voice "Why did you do that for? Three litter boxes and a plastic runner and you still insist on peeing the floor! Couldn't you pee on the runner at least?"

And he lays in bed looking at me all scared...so I washed the floor with orange scented Lysol, then went over that spot with Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer...

And then I felt guilty for yelling at him, so I petted him and said in a soothing voice "I'm sorry I yelled, but you really should make an effort and use the litter box!"

You have to always, always remember that he is a cat, and not a human, not a child. He is not doing this to make you mad, to make a point, or anything like that... He has beginnings of CRF, and he is being treated for an UTI and Bladder inflammation. Sometimes peeing hurts, and that's why he is avoiding the box. Don't forget this... He is not "doing wrong"...
