Curious minds want to know:

Do you change your kitty's collar? If so, how often? Do you change it for "fashion" or for need (as in it is worn or something similiar)

We don't use collars on our cats. Many years ago, Hydrox got caught in his collar...it was in the middle of the night; he came to bed and awakened me to tell me there was something wrong. He couldn't breathe. I ran my hands around his collar, but couldn't find anything wrong. But when I removed his collar, he gave a huge whoosh of air and, from that point on, he was fine.

And I've read how cats can sometimes get their collars caught on household things. It doesn't happen all the time, obviously, but we're just too leery.

I suppose breakaway collars would be fine for the gang, but we stopped using collars after the episode with Hydrox.

Velvet & Isabella wear safety collars with proper ID at all times (I worked for animal control way too long and saw soo many cats come in that were not wearing collars).

Kojak is my little escape artist (from both collars and home!) so he wears a buckle collar and ID tags. I change out everyone's collars when they start to show wear/tear or I find a cute new one on sale

All three of mine are microchipped as well

That's amusing.

No collars here, either. AC only picks up cats if they've bitten someone and no one thinks that a collar means much since cats and dogs get dumped with collars on.

Wow, so many non-collar users here. I thought I was in a small minority. My guys used to all wear safety collars until a couple of years ago. Promise managed to get the aluminum rabies tag hanging off her collar into an electrical outlet and it nearly electrocuted her. Since then they've all been going collarless. They're all microchipped, and our animal control checks every cat that comes in, so I think I'm still OK.

I tried a safety collar with Blossom, but she hated it and kept trying to take it off. So I just eventually gave up and got her micro chipped.

Our cats are both microchipped due to international relocation, but I didn't use collars before, anyway. Pounce either choked on them or got her jaw stuck in them when trying to get them off. I used safety collars, breakaway collars, velcro collars, etc - nothing worked! So, no collars for my Piccalo and Pounce.

Wow, I guess I'm in the minority because mine have collars.
I change em at both times..if it's really cute and comfy on them, I'll wait till it's pretty worn out..but if I see something super duper cute that is much prettier than their current collar sometimes i swap it out sooner

I only change it if it is worn out, really dirty, or something along those lines. We actually have stopped making her wear it all the time, she hasn't worn it in over a week. We will put it back on her when we have a showing, though, in case they let her out.

I use collars. There was a fire in our apartment a few years ago and the only way they could identify the lost cats was due to the collars. Haven't done the microchips yet, but I want to. My cats are strictly indoor kitties but my Linus used to break out of every place we ever lived in (had to do it once or twice) and so I got a collar for him and the trend has stuck with my other kitties, except Shebrie. I don't want to have to train a 13 year old cat to wear a collar.

And I tend to change the collar when it breaks, is worn out (fraying) or I get sick of what it looks like. LOL

They LOOOOOOVE their jewelery.

No collars worn here, far too dangerous. I also tell all my kittens owners not to use collars. All my cats are microchipped, and all kittens leave chipped.
