I think my kitten Luna has some Turkish Van in her. She is obviously not a pure bred, but since I saw the Turkish Van picture in Kittens USA magazine. The first thing I did was yell "that's Luna". She's very similar. Also I saw on youtube Cats 101: Turkish Van segment, she even has the same meow as the Turkish Van. I did try to find all the information I could about them, but I couldn't find all that much information. I was wondering if anyone on here was a Turkish Van breeder? and could tell me information about Turkish Vans, or if anyone knew a really good website with information about Turkish Vans?

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

Please don't take most of what is presented on Cats 101 for "truth" - they have a lot of misconceptions and mis-information on the program (they were the ones that made the statement about if your cat has a M on its forehead its a Maine Coon...even if its a shorthair!)
Vans are nice cats, but they are not common and the chances are your cat doesn't even have any Van in the background. There are many long hair cats that have a "van" color pattern with color on the head and tail and don't have an ounce of the breed in them.
I'm sure your cat may look like one, but its very doubtful there is any Van in your cat. I never go by personality in guessing what might be in a cat.

Goldenkitty is correct. I used to breed Turkish Vans and was member of the CFA Turkish Van breed council. They are an incredibly rare breed, so much so that I can name all of the active breeders in the US on two hands--without using all my fingers! The Van's pattern which has the color restricted only to the head and tail is quite common in cats, but the Van's cashmere-like coat texture, deep swimmer's chest, and love for water make them a unique breed unto themselves. We call cats that resemble Turkish Vans "Vanalikes."
We'd love to see pictures of your Vanalike

Oh I love the term "Vanalikes" - will have to keep it in mind
So can we use Mainealikes for the look a like Maine Coons?
