I listened, there were things I took issue with, but the one thing that stood out to me the most was when he used the descriptive phrase "skin a cat" - YIKES!!, now, that's a THOUGHTLESS phrase!

I never liked the phrase: "throwing out the baby with the bath water".

Would anyone complain if the rephrasing "skin a snake" had been used instead?
Figures of speech, colorful and sometimes downright goofy.

Well actually, at certain times, skinning a snake won't hurt it.

Many (even NPR) are pointing out that while he "took responsibility" for the loss, he didn't take responsibility for what most analysts say was the real cause, which were his own policies and his methods of implementing them. He seemed to indicate that government had not gotten a lot more intrusive in our daily lives, which most voters would disagree with.

Even Mark Twain had a "cat skinning" quote:

"There is more than one way to skin a cat...but don't expect any cooperation from the cat."
