she was carried up to my apartment by her "previous" mamma and taken to the bedroom. As soon as she was let out of the carrier she dashed up under the bed. I knew that would probably happen--that's OK.She needs to feel she has a safe place, right? Her ex-mamma didn't want to stay because she wasn't feeling well (she's 7 months pregnant) so I gave her the card and flowers and vowed to take care of Emmy fur-ever and ever.
I went and laid on the bed and started talking to Emmy who was still hiding under it. I told her i loved her and I would never leave her. After about 10 minutes of quiet--she crawled out, looked up at me for a minute--then jumped up on the foot of the bed! I was very still and waited for her to make the first move. She slowly and shyly crept up closer to my head and just sat there looking at me. I said "Emmy, welcome home" and she started to purr.
I dozed off for a little while when I woke up and she was still looking at me.
It is so comforting to have a feline in the house again. She's sleeping on the bed now so I thought I'd jot a couple lines to you guys. She is precious and except for being chubby and sweet--she doesn't remind me at all of Bella--which I'm sure makes Bella very pleased
