Finding decent comfortable underwear seems to be a monumental task. For years I wore this Sears brand that was very comfortable. They were expensive, but worth it, all cotton, fit just right, didn't crawl very durable. Then Sears stopped making them, so I turned to Penney's and found their brand: Adonna, which I really liked too. I was older by then so I liked a brief rather than bikini.

Now Adona is no longer being made and I was at Penney's yesterday in despair looking for underwear that I would find comfortable. All I want is nice white cotton briefs. Not bikini, not french cut, but not gigantic up to my chest pants either. Not too tight in the leg holes, but not sagging open. No slimy nylon. Just plain white cotton. I don't care about price if they are right. The good quality ones run about $8 a pair but I always have a coupon or some sort of discount code shopping at Penney's so it's not a big deal.

But I hated them all. I was practically in tears yesterday, and the poor sales associate was doing all she could to help me.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Ok, here comes my TMI response.

If I can get away with it, I don't wear them.
Which means I only wear them with light pants/slacks and with dresses.

I was advised years ago to do this by my gyno.
Took some getting used to, but I'm completely comfortable now.
The added benefit is that I can splurge a bit, and the few pairs I have are exceptionally comfy, though not cheap at around $19 a pair.

I hate shopping for bras and panties! Especially bras!

So far as panties go, I prefer my friend calls "Granny undies". I can't stand things that ride up my butt, or has itchy lace on the leg and waist bands. I don't like underwear that sits on the low hips and feels like they're always falling down.

I prefer sensible underwear with soft elastic around the legs and waist, and that go up to my waist like my pants/trousers do.

My friend laughs at me when we go shopping and I'm looking for underwear. She's always trying to get me to buy frilly/lacy underwear and I stand firm with my "granny undies."

I found some undies that I really like at "Penningtons" so now that's where I go exclusively for mine.

TG I'm not the only one who does this

I have a variety of undies though... I have some Jockey's Bamboo blend (very soft and comfy) in a 'boy short' style. I don't like traditional briefs though, they usually come up to my boobs... I hate that. VS's boy shorts are also very comfy.

My favorite underwear is actually Victoria Secret bikinis. I know they have a lot of different kinds, and you can browse the website to see the different kinds. I like the regular bikini (not low rise) because it provides good coverage without riding up...I am on the bigger side, so my trouble is underwear that doesn't fit...but I haven't had those problems with VS underwear. I usually buy when they are doing a 5 for 25$ special to get the best deal.

I have one recommendation www.decentexposures.com

Been buying from them for years. They make the adjustments that I want and have it on file. All I need to do is pick the color.

They are expensive but worth it since they are custom made.

I don't know, sorry. I wear thongs, which I buy at Target. Their Gilligan and O'Malley brand is REALLY nice, IMO. This is coming from a girl that used to ONLY wear Victorias Secret or Gap underwear. lol The undies I wear now are REALLY light and REALLY soft, I can barely feel they are there.

I hate not being able to find the underwear that you like, though. I wear regular underwear to bed b/c I can't sleep in a thong. For years I have been wearing these underwear by Hanes that look like mens underwear (with the pee panel in front and everything, though it's faux). I've gained some weight recently so they are a bit too small and tight so I've been looking for something else. Of course they don't make the kind I like anymore. Nothing is nearly as comfortable.

I love victorias secret underwear. Thats about all I wear, although I usually only wear thongs or low rise bikini to sleep in. I always go when they are doing 7 for $25! LOVE that sale!

I hardly wear them either except under jeans & I wear dresses/skirts mostly. Otherwise, I wear thongs or g-strings that I get at TJ Maxx.

I buy the Jocky Elance String Bikini (I like black & gray, personally). It's not really a bikini kind as far as I can tell, and it's definitely not what I consider a "string" bikini. They don't ride or bunch and they cover my butt which I like.

Did you look at "hi cut" opposed to french cut? That might better suit you in the legs.

I'm no help as far as what I prefer - simple hipster or hi cut low rise (because all of my jeans and pants are low to mid rise) bikinis or boy short style. Seamless whenever possible.

I buy my panties at K-Mart. I like Fruit of the Loom and Haynes Her Way. Comfortable and not pricey at all. I don't understand paying a fortune for clothing no one sees. If it fits, I buy it. I have pairs that are 3-4 yrs old that are just fine!

Same.
I find that the Hanes seamless ones hold up really well. The men's Hanes seamless/comfort waist band boxers do as well, since it takes a while for my DH to wear those out.

I buy Fruit of the Loom, 100% cotton in a 6 pack, and really like them. They come in a variety of colors, or all white if you prefer, different styles, bikini, hipsters, granny panties, whatever. They are very comfortable, stay put, and best of all, inexpensive!

Thanks for all the ideas ladies!. I've tried Hanes, FOL and Jockey, I don't like the fit or the quality, and they crawl.

Victoria's Secret's briefs look too small. I too like what some of you call granny panties (I've always called them Old Lady Underwear) but I don't want them too high, over my hips yes and as high as, but not over, my navel.

I don't like high cut leg, but I have large legs (muscular, not fat) and need a bigger leg hole than much of what I have seen lately, shopping for them.

Cheap underwear doesn't fit me right, falls apart too quickly and I cannot stand underwear that crawls!

Years ago my then gyn recommended I go without but that is just too unhygienic for me. It was her idea because of my trouble with yeast infections, but I fail to see how not wearing underwear would cut down on yeast infections, seems to me it would cause more problems.

Instead I started changing my underwear 2 or 3 times a day and that has solved the yeast problem very well. In addition I always double rinse my underwear. I wash them in hot water, and double rinse in cold.

I have one recommendation www.decentexposures.com
I think this is going to be my best bet and thank you CheshireCat for the link. I'm going to try a pair (it's free shipping) and if I like them buy a stack. I am willing to pay $14 a pair for comfort and durability. I might try their bras, too. THANK YOU!

May be TMI, but I used to get UTIs and yeast infections ALL THE TIME. Seriously, our toilet seats at our last house were stained orange around the inner edge b/c of the "numbing" medication they would give me that turned my urine BRIGHT orange. I just started shaving everything off down there, and since I did I haven't had a single UTI or yeast infection since then. Not a one. It's been probably over 5 years since I've had either. That is also about the same time I switched to thong during the day and regular underwear at night, which means I change my underwear twice a day.

I know it well. It's a bladder analgesic and does for your bladder what Tylenol does for your headaches. It's called "Pyridium" I keep some on hand to minimize discomfort in the event of UTI symptoms until I can get to the doctor.
