Playing with Jazzy & Ginga.
At Jazzy's age, around six, I have just seen the true ability of her love, now that the house is quite quiet, she loves jumping up onto people and onto our beds, she loves ear scritches, belly rubs and head bunts. She used to never give head bunts or liked her head petted. Her purr used to be barely audible, now it's pretty loud! I have no idea what has made her so affectionate lately. Perhaps the fact that Ginga is (slightly) settled down, I'm not too sure. It's so great that she has become so affectionate and I'm so happy with it. Just thought I'd share this with all of you.

Jackz, Jazzy & Ginga.

Over the river and through the woods...
Awww, that is so sweet! Our Little One did the same thing one day. I didn't want to have anything to do with us (except at dinner time) then all of a sudden one day she hopped up on the bed and was a major love ****! She was about 5 yrs old then, and she insists on sleeping with us every night now, just purring her little head off. It was overnight, seriously! One day, no reaction...the next day, "LOVE ME!!!". I wondered what alien kitty came and invaded her body, but maybe it is just the age. Who knows what goes on in a cat's mind, but just ENJOY IT!

That's so nice that Jazzy is getting so lovey. My Mazy cat gets more lovey as time goes on, too. From unsocialized around humans at all to an audible purr as soon as I touch her, all in 6 years.

I know just how you feel.

Butzie has always been affectionate. I had to let her stay with the soon to be ex at our house when I was staying temporally at a place where I couldn't keep her. When I got into my own place, she was so happy to be with me again that she became even more affectionate. Didn't think it was possible but it is.

Those of you with aloof kits may not understand this, but I seriously wish sometimes that my cats weren't so affectionate.

The up note is that they absolutely love everyone.

I also know how good it feels to have an independant cat become a lovebug, you must be so happy.

Awwww, she sounds like SUCH a sweetheart!
all of my cats are affectionate in their own ways, but some are certainly more lovey than others. That's a good thing though, because if all 9 were fighting for my lap, their may be a problem.

It's so rewarding when they start becoming more lovey, isn't it? I think it's a sign of bonding and trust. There is such satisfaction knowing that your loving patience has started reaping the benefits of more normal kitty behavior. Congratulations to you!
