Gave Sasha his first pill

I tried a pill pocket, the little brat could smell the pill through it So...I gave him the pill the old fashioned way: drop the pill in the cat's throat, rub the throat...It didn't fall on the floor so I think he swallowed it. He did go hide under the bed after I gave him his pill, and he's giving me this distrustful look...

Thew next 14 days are going to be fun...

And he just pooped the floor...

Do you have or can you get Feliway diffusers? I'm thinking the pooping is stress related.

I do, I need a refill cartridge. I also have a calming spray, I'll "mellow out" the bedroom...

And to make things even more interesting, one of my two boys barfed...since Tiggy just ate I'm pretty sure it was him (didn't see a pink little pill in the mess I cleaned up) and not Sasha reacting to the Torbutrol...

Did you ever try an empty pill pocket on him? Some cats do not like pill pockets.

Depending on the size of the pill you could butter it up before giving it. That way it will slide down easier and taste like butter.

You could also try molding a small amount of american cheese around the pill.

Yes, I was thinking of using a bit of margarine for the next pill (Sasha's very lactose intolerant and has seizures from dairy).

Interestingly, people who are lactose intolerant often have no problem with butter - it is fat, and different from milk, cream, cheese, whey, yogurt etc.

Exactly. I'm mildly lactose intolerant but can handle butter perfectly fine. Margarine, due to the "fake" ingredients in it, tends to be a bad idea for me to eat...

The tiniest bit of cheese makes Sasha convulse, pee the floor and vomit...and for personal health reasons I use low saturated fat margarine.

He didn't over react like he did yesterday, I coated the pill with margarine. He did swallow it: it's after tasting the pill going down that he gives me this disgusted look and hops off the bed!

He is giving me the distrustful look again, so I'm giving him space. The poop he left on the floor yesterday bugs me though: it looked rather dry in spite of the wet food I've been feeding him for the past 2 weeks...you'd think his BM's would be looser no?

With my guys, I sometimes give them empty pill pockets just as a treat - they do like them. And, were you able to follow the pill pocket instructions (they're on the back of the package, and I think you you-tube too) - the trick is to put the pill in the pocket with one hand, and use the other hand (the one that's holding the pocket) to seal the pocket. Otherwise, at least mine can smell 'pill finger' on the pocket.

Good luck - I have to say I was so grateful when I got baytril down my boy for 10 days using pill pockets. I don't know what else I would have done - he's not one for people food, sad to say.
