I have two cats, 1 1/2 years old, and 3 months old. They both love Da Bird. In fact, it's the only toy my older cat cares for. Well, since the kitten got here two weeks ago, I have had almost no time to play with my other cat.
I try to play with them both, but the kitten never tires of chasing after this feather! I have to carry him to a room and close the door, or he will always try to chase after it. The problem is, the kitten runs after the feather right away while it's moving, while my older cats prefers to wait for me to fling the feather into a "hiding place" then stalk and pounce on it. The kitten never gives my other cat enough time to set up a pounce before he's in there tearing the feather apart.
I'm looking for any suggestions on how to play with my older cat without having to lock my kitten in a room (he meows CONSTANTLY when I put him in a room, and after just a couple of minutes my other cat gets curious about the meowing and stops playing). I know once the kitten calms down, I should be able to play with both of them at once. Until then, I need a suggestion. I got a total of 30 seconds of playtime in with my older cat when my kitten was sleeping all the way across my apartment. He woke up and came running right away.
