Queen Eva Won't Eat

Queen Eva won't eat this morning. She's acting perfectly fine in every other way, she just seems too busy to eat, but it worries me.

I called my vet of course and she had me look in Queen Eva's mouth for signs of ulcers and I see nothing. She also had me check if her adult canines are coming in, and they are not.

She isn't congested, she isn't acting hungry then turning away as if in nausea, she is acting like she has no interest in food at all. But not like she is sick, just like she's not hungry, too busy to eat or something.

I've felt her tummy and there is no tenderness (though she screamed bloody murder at the indignity of it until she realized I wasn't hurting her). It is a bit tight and bubbly, as if she has some gas. She hasn't had anything different for food, but I wonder if she just needs to have a good poop.

I am very careful about threads and small pieces of things and stuff like that but you never know, with a kitten. That's what I worry about, that she's ingested something that will tie up her insides.

No vomiting.

Hopefully my massaging will get things moving. I hope I haven't got another constipation cat on my hands, my goodness.

She IS hanging around down by the litter boxes, now. And she was on Sunday too, also a day she wasn't overly interested in food. But after she pooped and peed (finally) on Sunday she did eat so I thought no more about it.

but it's asian lady beetle season and she is fascinated by the disgusting things, and there are a lot of them down by the litter boxes.

I haven't seen her eat any of the beetles, but I wonder.....

I have to leave for work in an hour. If she hasn't eaten by then I may shut her up in the bathroom with food water and litter (and her Pink Kitten and White Bunny), just so she has access to food while I am gone. She won't like it, but I can't let her go so long without food.

They do make us worry, don't they?!?! it's constipation.

Now that our kitties are older, I've noticed something rather funny. Three of them will eat the evening wet meal (we feed two a day), go to the bathroom, then come back and have a small snack of dry food.

Sounds very much like what Queen Eva may be experiencing - just have to make room inside that little body for more food and so she feels hungry!

Hope you come home to a good poo, pee and an empty food bowl.

It's the time of year when some bugs are getting into my condo - and I saw my guys chasing a spider - you do get worried when their appetites are off.

Thanks you guys. I'm in luck, my morning client just canceled so I can keep an eye on her a bit longer, and maybe have peace of mind before I have to leave at 1:00.

Let's hope she just has an off day, it happens to all of us. I know you are worried...

Praying all is well and Queen Eva has been productive in the litter box today. Might try the pumpkin trick if needed.

Aw, thanks everyone. Queen Eva has not pooped yet, but earlier I did get her to eat a little, after some tummy massage. There is a lot of gas gurgling in there.

I've just run in to check on her and she seems in fine spirits, I'm going to do some more massage on her real quick, but have to go out again, the work day not over yet.

Keep the vibes coming, anyway, we love and are grateful for the support.

Well at least it's not bothering her enough to dampen that "Queen Eva" spirit!
