Yet another page in the saga of the quest for Liz to be restored to health...

Backstory: After she seemed to be all-but-improved with her intestinal/liver/white blood cell issues, she developed a terrible rash around her ears, head, and parts of her body. On top of it, she's extremely lethargic (doesn't want to play, move, etc.) Vet doesn't think it's mites, given how widespread the condition seems to be. They did a biopsy on Friday and we're waiting for the results Tuesday or Wednesday.

In the meantime, we've had her at the vet, every day since Friday (Friday: biopsy; Saturday morning: raging fever; this morning [vet's day closed -- she's that nice]: checkup of fever at vet's request.)

Liz pooped on the exam table Friday, but I don't think she's peed since ... I'm not sure -- at least not since Saturday morning. It's not 3:45pm Sunday. She has been eating/drinking over the weekend. The vet felt her today and said her bladder feels empty (which may worry her if it's not making urine), but we're supposed to wait and she if she goes tonight. She gave her some subcutaneous fluids to fill up the bladder.

The Present: My problem is not knowing when to worry. The vet gave her the sub-q around 10:45am today still no peeing. Is this normal for a cat who has been dealing with a fever on and off and who is just generally "sick"?

My only advice is to call your vet - or the e-vet on call - and find out what they say. Be ready to get to the vet. If you can, write down everything your cat has been treated for if you need to give the e-vet a record. I'm very cautious (maybe overly so) as my boy had crystals. Nothing ever happens during office hours, does it.

My prayers are with you both.

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, as I'm now probably pushing the $1,200 mark in the past couple months for Liz's issues (with more on the horizon if the biopsy comes back with clear diagnosis and treatment), I've had to walk that line between, "I'm nervous -- better take her to the emergency vet!" and, "Can this wait until tomorrow morning for my next visit with the vet [which the vet wants Monday morning, if Liz still isn't doing better]?" very carefully.

It's not that I don't want to spend money to get her well -- it's that I have very little of it right now and I want to be sure what extra money I can dedicate to her care is going towards her care are going for services/treatments that are warranted and not just emotional reactions.

I'm wondering if her not urinating (by right now) the sub-q and things she's drunk is something I should be deathly concerned about this afternoon/tonight or if it's the kind of thing that can wait until the vet appointment tomorrow.

I did leave a message for the vet at her office as she's instructed we do if Liz was still having issues. She was planning on swinging back by the office this evening, I think. If I haven't heard back and Liz hasn't gone by about 7pm, I'll try her home number (which I've never been able to reach her at.)
