Here's a hint: Look up "Myanmar," find the word it replaced, and then look up the expression on the sign with that substitution.

Not that its dating me, but I know that long ago the Burma Shave company used to put up signs on the highway like that - you read a few words at at time.

Only know that from looking at antiques. I never saw it in person.

Well, not before 1950, but before 1960, certainly. I saw many of them in the 50's.

"Car in ditch
Man in tree
Moon was full
And so was he!"

"If hugging on the highway
Is your sport
Turn in your car
For a davenport!"

And so on.

There are still a few of them around, mostly restored and put up by the land owners.

I've read several books referencing the style of road advertising they used and watch classic movies. So the reference wasn't lost on me.

I get it, but I'm not sure I would have if not for everyone talking about Burma Shave (I read all the comments before reading the cartoon). I was born in 1953 and DO remember seeing all those ads when we did road trips.

I knew what it was, but with a YOB of 1959, I am a little too young to have actually seen these.

I know about Burma Shave signs because my grandma subscribes to Countryside magazine! For a while (don't know if they still do it) they had a Burma Shave sign thing in every issue.

Perhaps age has nothing to do with it. Maybe it is your insight as a truck driver. BTW I expected something to do with the Texas Rangers, not Crankshaft from you this weekend!

As I mentioned elsewhere, I was a loyal Rangers fan once upon a time, but I gave up when, over the years, they gave away enough #1 players to have been in World Series several times over.

I was born in '63 and remember well! I don't remember seeing the signs on the road, but I remember the existed, and certainly the Burma Shave jingle (TV reruns?) (Both the Burma Shave stuff and that Myanmar used to be Burma LOL).
