Hi everyone!

My name is Jane and I am 16 from England
We recently brought home our allotment cat (there's a lot more to this story than I can post in an introduction, I'll make a new thread for her!) so here I am! We lost our last cat two years ago now and the house has seemed very empty and lonely without one, so we finally made this decision.

I also have 10 hamsters and two guinea pigs - who do take up a lot of my time, but are loved dearly and they make me happy

Looking forward to being around here - I'm on some other cat forums but this one looks much more active, so hopefully I'll enjoy it!

I'l introduce her properly soon, but here she is:

A pretty kitty, and she looks like she has a personality!

Welcome to TCS.

We have a lot of members from the UK, actually. They'll probably be by, shortly.

She's beautiful! Welcome to the group. I'm relatively new, as well. I find everyone who posts here warm, knowledgeable and very supportive. I look forward to hearing more from you, soon.

Here we go, introducing Meow!

When we first got our allotments about five years ago, a very thin, unhappy cat arrived and started always being around when we were and demanding our attentions. Eventually she became rather friendly, always wanting lots of cuddles and love!

She was very thin, so we started to feed her - we're a family of animal lovers, how could we not?? Word on the allotment was someone brought her to 'catch mice' and 'wasn't going to feed her because that's what she was meant to do'..... so we started to feed her. Soon she was coming back every morning and every evening expecting her food... but we always had to send her back outside when we left, which made us feel far too guilty

So it happened - we installed a cat flap in the greenhouse (self built wooden one with a shed area, not one of those metal completely glass ones) and gave her a nice bed.. and soon, wow, you had to persuade her out!

We've always wanted to bring her home, but it just hasn't seemed ideal or practical. We had a rather unsociable cat at home already, and we knew he wouldn't accept her, but he passed away a few years ago. This year she's obviously getting older and it's getting quite cold, and dad always felt really sad leaving her there especially when it was cold..

After much discussion for the last few months we finally decided to bring her home on Friday night. We had no idea how she would react, especially to not being allowed outside and to all of the different noises etc.

She seems to be settling in quite well - she is obviously rather nervous of some things, for example the television, and is scared of the unusual sounds, but seems okay. She found a safe spot upstairs where she was spending most of her tme.. and has now changed her mind to sleeping on my parents bed/on the landing when the sunshine comes through. She will happily come out for cuddles and purrs her little head off - so she's obviously not unhappy.

She's using her litter tray, she's happily eating and she's as loving and attention seeking as ever

I do want to point out though she was very loved even on the allotment, and still very spoilt, and it was never that we didn't want to bring her home, although I'm also sure she was happy there too, just cold and lonely at times.

Please wish us luck that she continues to settle, she's doing really well so far

And some photos of her settling in..

and in the sunshine she found on the landing

Hi Jane.

Your tabby girl is beautiful.

Is her name Meow?

Please make yourself at home.

PS....a mod merged your 2 threads in this forum so all of your photos would be in one thread.
