Was running to get phone and he got in way. It was kind of hard but he didn't make a noise. He's fine now and eating and hanging out. If it really hurt him wouldn;t he have "yelped" when it happened?

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

Where abouts did you hit him, in the ribs, in the side, in the tummy on the side? Most likely he is fine but keep an eye on him for any unusual behavior. What I do when I did that to Chickster when she was a kitten was to rub them down slowly and carefully all over to see if any areas were sensitive to make them yowl or otherwise show discomfort. If that happens a vet visit is in order ASAP. Were you in bare feet or had shoes/boots on?
He is eating, laying on me, cleaning himself and i rubbed all along both sides there is no tenderness. I think you can really tell by if they yelp or not also.

Sound doesn't mean anything. If you catch a cat in the side it's like hitting a person in the chest, you can knock the breath out of them completely so there's no way any noise could be made. (sometimes one cat tackling another cat from the side will knock the wind out of the cat getting tackled, too)
This is one reason I don't wear shoes in the house (or let others). The cats always get underfoot or in the way and an accidental barefooted kick has a lot less force. If you did have shoes on, talk to the vet.

cats don't yelp- dogs do. They hide pain quite well so keep your eye on your kitty and try to be more careful next time.

Of course you never meant to kick your cat. It was an accident, and you weren't careless, just in a rush.
Cats, agile creatures that they are, are very good at getting in the way. They like to "lead from behind" - walking in-between your legs while you are walking. Lay on the stairs and refuse to move as you ascend / descend - and it doesn't matter if the lights are on or off. Cats operate under the assumption that they're in the right and it is up to you to move out of their way.
Glad your kitty is O.K. and your panic stricken heart rate is back to normal.

Once when Chickster was still a 6 inch long kitten, I barefoot football punted her by accident while shuffling quickly across the floor. Underneath the belly. It wasn't a hard kick, more like a lift and release. Still It was scary, I Freaked. but she was ok. Of course it was an accident and cats get underfoot sometimes. Glad she is OK.
Glad too that you were so concerned over it

Don't beat yourself up about it as I think we've all done something like that at some point in time. When Tumbles was just ankle high, I used to trip on him frequently. I've inadvertently kicked or stumbled over all my cats when I've been rushed and/or they've darted in front of me. Keep an eye on your kitty and look for any unusual or weird behavior like hiding, lethargy, limping, or neurological stuff like walking into walls or walking in circles or losing balance. Those issues need to be addressed by a vet.

I've kicked all three cats countless times! I always feel sooooo bad. Parker also has a habit of sitting under my computer chair with his tail wrapped around the wheel, I caught the tip of it a few times when I have forgotten to make sure he wasn't there before rolling. I always say sorry and give them a hug...lol.

Aww! Some of them never get the hint, some of them learn quick that when something is moving they should get out of the way or be very alert. I'm lucky, it only took that one punt for Chickster to realize "2 legs moving bad!"
Glad your sweetie is ok

DON'T beat yourself up. Our furry friends just love to be around us and unfortunately this has happened to me too. Keep a close eye on your kitty, but everything sounds OK.
