Hm, if it's true that grain content in dry food may nullify Lysine, no wonder Tiggy's pink eye isn't getting much better...he seems to like a combination of wet and dry and has been (as my older cat Sasha has been) finicky with the wet (Sasha now seems to prefer Salmon Bisque while Tiggy seems to prefer the Chicken Stew...for now
).
I got a few sample packets of dry from Pet Value; one Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain Feline Formula (no grain but very high in protein...I'm concerned that if my other, older cat Sasha develops a liking to it as well, it might be bad for his kidneys, and it has no Glucosamine which I feel is good for him, being a senior cat) and of Performatrin Ultra Slim Care Formula...which has Glucosamine, Chondrotinin, Carnitine; pre and probiotics...but isn't grain-free.
Is Taste of the Wild suitable for a 6 month-old kitten? Keep in mind he also gets wet (Performatrin Ultra Chicken stew). I can always use the Performatrin sample bag to get Sasha re-interested in his kibble by mixing it to his Royal Canin (a different issue - Sasha was sulky and refusing to eat...the Salmon bisque wet seems to have rekindled his appetite, knock on wood; but he's still ignoring his dry food...the wet doesn't have the 'senior cat nutrients' I'd like to see...).
Switching foods cold turkey is a mistake I've made in the past and won't repeat, so yes I will mix the new kibble to Tiggy's Science diet to make the change gradual.
Thanks in advance for your input!
