Not by any means that they do not 100% deserve the attentions, but have you noticed the sudden spate of coal miner movies on the movie channels in the last few days? Thank you, miners of the world for providing the industrial backbone of this world!

Speaking of which, I saw a movie today that I first saw thirty years ago in Hounslow, England. I mentally classified it as OK and filed it away for thirty years. Until today. Thirty years. This movie has went from OK to becoming a classic in thirty years. Yeah, guess, that's bout how long it takes, eh? BILLY ELLIOTT is now in my stable of all time favororites. Oh, I used to fancy myself something as an expert on brit slang but had forgotten poof until today. And yes, I have been to the Bolshoi, but I am not a poof but have been called one many times for liking cats!

My daddy was a coal minerand he has worked harder than anyone I have ever known. He farmed and coal mined full time on both and raised two little girls by hisself and I am sorry but you don't do that without something special about you.

Um......I do believe Billy Elliot was a mere 10 years ago.

Fantastic movie. Own it and love it. And the Broadway musical of the same name is also terrific.

Oh yes I have
The miners have become celebrities, especially the last one to come out who has been in the papers over here branded "bed hopping chile miner" because he has chosen his mistress over his wife.Honestly
My hubby is an open cast coal miner, so I have my fair share of coal talk and I have to read the UK Coal newsletter once a month
