Sometimes it's the simple things in life that mean the most!
I ment to post about this sooner, but my niece Kianna is "offical" now!!!
This precious girl has been in our family for quite a while now and I am thrilled that it's finally "official"! (Her momma passed away several years ago and she has been through a lot; it's such a blessing to know that now she never has to worry about where she will call "home" again. She absolutely loves our family and she still maintains a very close relationship with her cousins and sees them often
).

I am really looking foward to tonight! Positive post for today- my niece Kianna is spending the night tonight for the first time!!!
My sister Kimmy and my brother-in-law Jason fostered her for almost a year and just recently finished the legal work and adopted her into our family!
(so, that means she can spend the night with me now!) I'm soo excited she's comming over; she's been asking to spend the night for months now but I couldn't legally let her before now because I'm still working on my foster care stuff as well so I can legally drive and take care of my foster nieces when they visit- it takes a while and you have to go through a ton of paperwork and background checks/etc. (Jack and I are planning to become foster parents in the future (I am soo blessed to have an amazing man in my life that absolutely adores children and wants to become a foster parent too someday- he's awesome!). For right now though, I am just trying to finish my paperwork/etc so I can act as another guardian for my sister's other wonderful foster kiddos. / Kianna has been in our family for a while now and she's just fit in soo well from day one, I am proud to say that she's ours for life now!
She is such a blessing in our lives and has brought soo much joy to our family! I'm also exceptionally proud of how well she's been doing in school too! Since she's been in our family, her grades have increased and she has worked soo hard in her classes!
(I've been tutoring her too, so it's fun to see her progress first hand).

I'm not driving too terribly far away from home at the moment because of my health, but since I live super close to some shopping centers/etc, so I'm thinking about making a few small shopping trips with her and then going to dinner with her later tonight to celebrate her adoption and her first sleep over!

Congratulations to Kianna. I adopted 2 of my kids from fostercare. They all deserve a family. I am happy you have Kianna as part of yours

Congrats to Kianna. She looks like such a happy young lady. I hope to adopt one day that is one of the reasons I want to be a social worker so I have adopt children who need loving homes.

Thankyou everyone!
Kianna and I had a great girls night!
We started off with a trip to Hobby Lobby (she'd never been before)- she got to pick out her first Christmas ornaments for the tree at my sister's house (she picked a cute purple heart and an adorable Christmas ornament with a poem on it) and then she helped me get some shopping done for my design work! We had a blast running up and down the isles and looking for sales! She also opened up a lot with me and did a lot of talking...I think it was good for her to talk about the memory of her mom and all of the stuff that's gone on in her life. I'm glad she trusts me enough to open up to me and talk; that was really special
I think my favorite moment of the girls night though was when I overheard her talk on the phone to one of her friends -she was telling her that "she was out shopping with her aunt" - may sound simple, but that melted my heart a little bit! (She's always called me "Aunt Lydia" (Lydia is my first name) around our family, but to hear her tell her friend that I've never met before that I was her aunt really was a special moment- I had already accepted and loved her like my own, but to hear her say that showed me she felt the same- it was awesome!!

After we left Hobby Lobby, I let her pick out a spot for dinner- we were starving! We tried out a nearby Mexican resturant that wound up being really good. After that, made one more small shopping trip to pick up some art supplies for Kianna (she loves drawing) and also picked up a few things for my SS! (I'm serious when I say that ALL of my family gets involved in the SS shopping!
). When we finally left there, we were worn out. We had grand plans of making a cake and designing some homemade ornaments when we got home, but we were both worn soo worn out that we went to bed instead.

My sister Kimmy picked Kianna up the next day (Kianna was going to see her little cousin's dance recital that day) and when she left, Kianna was already making plans for her next sleep over here lol...I think we both had a great weekend!
