Blackberry or Iphone??? - Page 2

I love my Blackberry Tour. It loads pretty quickly for a phone, love free BBM to other BB users, and never had a problem with it. I'm going to be sad when it stops working. I was thinking about a Droid, since the new Blackberries dont come with a track ball (I LOVE my track ball), but I dont know now.

My TL has been pushing his Droid Incredible on all of us, and him AND another guy at work both had to get new phones in the last week because theirs have been acting up - resetting, deleting things, and canceling internet connection without reconnecting.

Hubby's cousin had an iPhone and let me mess around with it and I hated it. The touch screen was a pain in the butt, though I'm not a fan of touch screens as it is. She had some problems with hers, not sure if she has it anymore or not. She dropped it in the hot tub back in January It DID work a few days later after some sitting in rice, but never was bright again.

One thing I really like about Android over iPhone (I don't know if they fixed this), is the ability to run multiple applications at once. So I can have google talk running constantly, and people can IM me (rather than send a text message), and I can get it anytime. I can have Google Maps navigation running, get an IM, check that, update my baby tracker app with when Zoe woke up, and my navigation is still going I use my phone rather than a GPS now because Google Maps is awesome.

Before with the iPhone, I would have to have the phone on and be in the Google Talk client to be able to IM with DH, which made it pretty much useless for me.
Everything Ive read about the IPhone is that what qualifies it to be a fast and speedy little phone is the fact that it will NOT run multiple applications. As far as I know they have not changed that aspect. I personally will be a Droid user as long as they keep updating their technology to stay user friendly and speedy like it is. My problems lie within the phone itself not the software that it runs.

BTW LOVE LOVE LOVE Google Maps it has gotten me a lot of places not to mention it gives me like 20 different options so if I know how to go part way it will adjust itself to where Im going. I cant get enough of it haha. I never played with anything like google talk and stuff like that. I only got the gmail account because it was easier to to just change the few things that got emailed to me than it was to hope and pray that my yahoo account would sync up.

I would get an Iphone if I could. I am so sick of blackberry! Apple's technology is so far beyond blackberry, that I don't think RIM will ever catch up. The browser on the BB sucks.. Safari browser on the Iphone is WAY better. My MIL has an Iphone and she is no techy and she absolutely loves hers. She lets me play with it as much as I want. LOL! I have an Ipod Touch with wifi access and I use it all the time to send emails. I have no problem typing with the touch screen, I'm just as quick with that as I am with BB buttons.

I have a question can you get oh facebook and do the apps like farmville from a blackberry if so then I am thinking of getting a blackberry. I have a prepaid now but if I go paid then I get a 20% discount because of the company I work for.

Blackberry has a Facebook app but it sucks.

You can't play any FB games on the BB. Farmville is way to graphic intense for a blackberry. They just are just not that up to date.

I'm sure there's an app for that in the Apple app store. There is literally an app for everything.

I can't understand why Blackerries get called Crackberries, when everyone I talk to who has one hates it

I loved the buttons for the Curve but the software...Ugh its like being stuck with an old nokia flip phone with the first ever color screen. That is how far behind RIM is compared to Apple and Droid.

I popped in to the T-Mobile store to have a fiddle about with the phones and had a good talk with the assistant, and i'm definitely going with the IPhone

I didn't like the buttons on the Blackberry to start with because they were tiny, and for me it was too wide even though it was a small phone, and i could see me dropping it.

I love my blackberry. *shrug* I've never had any problems with it. I currently have a Curve, but I can't wait until our contract is up so I can get a Torch.

I use to have a blackberry, and at the time I thought it was great. However I now have a iphone and am much happier with it. Everything my blackberry could do, my iphone can do 10 times better and usually much faster too. Texting with a touch screen takes a little getting use to, but with a little practice you can text just as fast with a touch screen as with a traditional keypad. I'd go with the iphone.

I love my blackberry, but there IS an app for iPhone that I would love. It essentially is a dynamometer for your car on your iPhone!! It lets you actually tune your car while you have it on jackstands...

my aide @ a former school had a blackberry - it would update itself @ all different times, & she'd be unable to use it for anything during that period. i have no idea if that's something that can be scheduled, or if the newer ones still have that problem - i know it would drive me nuts.
i have an iPhone & i love it.

I've been talked out of getting an Iphone, and tomorrow my HTC Desire gets delivered!

http://www.navigadget.com/wp-content...htc-desire.jpg

I've never heard of them until recently, but i know a couple of people that has them, one being Ashley(AJ) here on the site.

I found out that HTC are the ones who make Iphone for Apple as well as a couple of other well known brands, so when they saw how popular the Iphone was they jumped on the bandwagon

I've just been told that T-Mobile will match what other providers are offering because after 10 years they said they want to keep me, awwwwwww
I wonder why there's no app that will send a text using the human voice. If I remember correctly, T-Mobile says they're the premier 4G network. What a long thread this is. (Just started reading it today. Sorry if I shared any duplicate information - did not go past post #5)

If you're worried about the onscreen keyboard there are several keyboard apps to make it easier for you to type: BlindType (can recognize typos for the words that were intended), SwiftKey (learns from you then can predict what you are typing and will type), ThickerButtons (self explanatory). There's a few sliding keyboard apps and a completely different take on it - 8pen (a friend swears this one is great).

The one thing about android is that it's a phone os with a linux heart (the kernel, and open source), so you have a lot of configurablity and it can be tweaked in several ways.
I suggest you find an android community that lists the basic must have apps. You'll want a better task killer/manager and having a file manager is nice. If you don't like the Sense UI, that can even be changed.

I'm stuck on AT&T here (it's them and service, or someone else and a phone that's only good for a paperweight) so I went with a mid-tier phone running 2.1 that has a keyboard.

One thing I do recommend is about the auto spelling thing it likes to do always double check the word Ive sent some cracking texts haha

The bigger keyboard when you make it horizontal is better though

Ooooooooh go into the market app and look for the wallpapers I got a great one atm its snow covered pine trees and it snows on it to

Anyhow how are you finding it so far?

So far it's fab!!!. I'll have a look at the market app tonight for the screensavers, but for ringtones the "Tunee" app has great reviews and their free, so i've just downloaded a few.

Tony at work does his keyboard like you so i might give that a shot, but i reckon this phone is going to be quite popular
