Can warts fall off?

The cat in question: my 18 year old Sasha. Since age 10 (give or take) he has developed warts on his hind quarters, which the Vet told me were normal for a cat his age.

A few minutes ago I was petting him and felt one large wart on his back near his tail. It felt loose and didn't seem to hurt him, so I gently pulled on it...and it came off effortlessly, with a bit of fur stuck to it. For anyone who's ever had a large skin tag frozen off, that's what it looked like: a large, hairy skin tag.

Only in Sasha's case, it wasn't frozen off, zapped off or anything like that;it just came off on its own! Is that normal? He's an indoor cat and we live on a 23rd floor; it's not likely to be a dead tick, or is it?

Okay a true wart is a virus that causes the icky stuff in the skin.... thus YES they can fall off ...

Most old age tags or skin issues are not warts thus should not fall off ...

Understood, I only used the skin tag as an example ( I had one frozen off my inner thigh that looked similar to the wart that came off Sasha!
