6 Month old Leeloo is having some sort of attack. We took these videos to share with her vet. This is the second day this is happening. When she is stimulated with a cat toy, or our other cat gets playful with her, Leeloo snaps out of this behavior and runs around without issue, leaping on and off furniture, as if nothing happened, and all symptoms disappear. The episodes have lasted as long as an hour and a half. We are pretty certain she is in pain from her constant crying. Any information regarding recognition of this behavior would be greatly appreciated.

I hope someone can help you... I see a perfectly normal kitty on the videos - My kitties' tails are never motionless while I pet them... Hope and Lucky both arch their backs for petting too, putting their butts up, just like your kitty does... So, what I see there looks normal to me...

I certainly hope that what you are saying is correct. It is hard to see it on the video, but her face is quivering, and she is crying with every breath. She does this when no one is touching her as well. In the video, you see my husband and roommate petting her to comfort her, but she was immobilized, crying and shaking before she received this attention.

Looking at how her claws are dug in and her butt arched, that would be my first bet- she is in heat and needs to be spayed. If you have spayed her and she is still acting like that- then your vet needs to see her. Maybe he missed something.

Kittens can go into heat as young as 6 months old. Arching her back, skin twitching at the base of the tail, and calling, yowling or purring can also be signs of heat. If she hasn't been spayed, she needs to be....before she gets pregnant. Cats are induced ovulators, and will go into heat continuously until mated. If she has already been spayed, contact your vet and have bloodwork done to check for circulating female hormones. If she still has hormones, she may still have a remnant of ectopic ovarian tissue that needs to be removed.

I've only watched the first video, very interesting. I am sorry you are going through whatever this may be. I just wanted to say, please if at all possible take these videos with you to the vet! They would love to see this to be sure of what kind of activity you are seeing too.

I do see why you are worried. The tail and back leg action would bother me too. Definitely get a vet to look at her. Make sure she is eating and using the bathroom alright. Like other posters said, she may just be in heat, but I have never had a female in heat before so no experience there.

She is just beautiful
thanks for being such observant Mommies and Daddies

You know...that almost looks like she's experienced a false pregnancy and thinks she is nursing her kittens.

I do think you are dealing with hormonal activity, whether it be heat or false pregnancy or phantom kittens. Get LeeLoo to the vet, have blood work done before the spay, and get her spayed and I bet she'll be fine.

She is a beautiful kitty, very soft looking, but did not appear to be in distress, appeared more to be focusing within herself, like a new mother would.

My kitten Queen Eva is 4 months old now and I am watching very closely for signs of heat. My vet wants to wait until she is six months old to spay her because of her rocky beginnings and she is so small, but boy I just want to get it over with.

Please keep us up to date your your beautiful LeeLoo girlie

I watched the videos before looking at what others suggested. It's funny how similar thoughts I had.

The first association I had from the first video was that it appears like she is "fighting the happy tail quiver " or wanting to poop but knowing she shouldn't do it where she is or unable to. Then I got the same feeling that she is having some inner experience and concentrating on it and it's nearly like she is imagining something painful.

Then it appeared to me that maybe she was a teenage mother and this is something related to pregnancy, pregnancy gone wrong or imagined pregnancy. I am not experienced in nursing mothers, so it was not first thought in my mind. There is something sexual in the nature she is moving about the more you look.

Anyway I think your vet will probably be able to diagnose based on these videos, hopefully so. I think kitties in fake-heat would let out pretty impressive vocalizations, some of them pure pain noises. Hopefully it's something easily fixable and nothing to do with painful condition! What a beautiful baby.
