I just looked at my Buddy tonight and one side of his chest looked bigger. I touched him and picked him up and he did not react in pain. His fur is in place (no skin breaking through) and he's not licking or poking at it. Could it just be he got bruised playing with the other cat? I've never seen this in any of my cats. Should I take him into the vet or wait the weekend?

get to the vet.. not tonight unless you see it getting bigger ...

Odd question how old is Buddy? What does it feel like ( a marble , a piece of cooked fat or jello)

He's 6, and I've only had him since June. He sleeps at the end of my bed and I'm thinking perhaps I kicked him by mistake getting out of bed this morning. It just feels like extra or loose skin under there, not a specific hard bump.

I have to call the vet tomorrow to reorder medicine for one of my other cats so I'll get a suggestion about bringing him in.

I brought Buddy to the vet and he did a needle aspiration. The cytology report came back - high likelihood of fibrosarcoma. I'm taking him back for x-rays on Friday to see if it has spread and to rule out a couple of other possibilites before I consider surgery. I've only had him for 4 months and he's completly stolen my heart. He's the "perfect gentleman" of a cat, and lets my 2-1/2 year old nephew pet him and play with him. I hope to God by some miracle this is wrong and I can save him.

Sending vibes that this is not a fibrosarcoma (or if it is, that it is something that can be eliminated through surgery)!

I am so sorry to hear this. Our Sammy had a fibrosarcoma removed this past March and had 6 mos of homeopathic chemo plus Transfer Factor. Please make sure you don't vaccinate him anymore, this was the first thing our holistic vet told us. Please keep us posted and best wishes from us
